Buy Cloth Armor when physical damage is the reason you are losing trades or risking an early all-in, especially before a planned armor item.

Best on

Any champion needing a cheap defensive stopgap, particularly tanks, bruisers, and vulnerable carries.

Good against

Strong into AD lane bullies, physical assassins, and early basic-attack pressure; poor value into mostly magic damage.

When to buy it

An early emergency component. Complete its armor upgrade once you know which physical threat you need to answer.
