Irelia Mid Lane Wild Rift Guide
Irelia mid lane counters include Lissandra, Diana, and Vex. See the best build, runes, matchups, and game plan for Wild Rift Patch 7.3.
How to play
- Use low-health minions to close the gap Finish low-health minions with your 1st ability to refresh the dash and build attack speed before reaching your opponent.
- Land your stun before committing Place both casts of your 3rd ability on opposite sides of the enemy to stun and mark them. Your 1st ability refreshes when it hits a marked target.
- Push your wave before joining fights Push first, then use your ultimate to mark enemies in a nearby fight. Dash to a marked target with your 1st ability to refresh it.
Strengths
- Dash resets let her run targets down through the wave, turning one pickup into a chain of mobility.
- Sustained damage with a built-in stun and a damage-blocking channel makes her a strong mid duelist once she has items.
- Strong dive and snowball threat: a fed Irelia reaches your backline and fights through peel that would stop a burst assassin.
Weaknesses
- Weak early game where ranged poke keeps her off the wave before her first item.
- Hard crowd control and untargetable windows shut her dash chain down, since she needs melee range to do anything.
- Her trades depend on a healthy wave for resets, so a frozen lane with no minions removes half her kit.

Irelia Mid Lane Counters
Who counters Irelia Mid Lane in Wild Rift (WR)? These champions beat Irelia in the mid lane matchup, with how each one wins. Learn to play around them or ban them in ranked.
- Lissandra: Lissandra can root Irelia when she dashes into W (2nd) range, then follow with her targeted ultimate. The counterplay is controlling the entry angle and baiting the root before committing. Her self-stasis also cancels your all-in the moment you commit.
- Diana: Diana shields your opening trade and out-skirmishes you with her own resets in long fights. Her ultimate pulls you in, taking away the engage timing you usually control.
- Vex: Every dash you make feeds her passive, and her fear punishes the exact mobility your kit runs on. She zones you off the wave and bursts you the moment you engage through it.
- Yasuo: His windwall (2nd) blocks the blades that set up your stun, his knockup interrupts your dash chain, and the extended duel you both want favors his shield and sustain.
Champions Irelia Is Strong Against
Irelia's best matchups in Wild Rift. Irelia holds an edge against these picks in the mid lane role, so look to press the advantage and contest objectives.
- Ziggs: Ziggs has one Satchel Charge (2nd) hop and a minefield slow for self-peel, but Irelia can chain through marked or dying minions to force those cooldowns before reaching him. Do not call him immobile; punish after the satchel is spent.
- Lux: Missing Light Binding (1st) removes Lux's hard crowd control, but Lucent Singularity (3rd) still slows and detonates automatically when Irelia enters it, while Prismatic Barrier (2nd) can shield Lux twice. Use minions to change the dash angle, wait out E's (3rd) zone, and finish through the returning shield.
- Annie: Annie's loaded Pyromania (Passive) stun is the main entry check, but Molten Shield (3rd) also gives her a shield and decaying movement speed, while a living Tibbers (Ult) can recast Pounce (Ult) for a one-second knockup. Track both the stun and pet before chaining dashes through her.
- Syndra: Syndra zones divers with her scatter stun and orbs, but your wave resets weave through her spacing, and an immobile mage with no escape cannot survive you once the stun is spent.
- Fizz: Your dashes match his mobility and your sustain outlasts his short trades. His pole vault dodges one spell, not your reset chain, so his kill windows are brief while your pressure is constant.
Early Game
Accept that the first few levels are not yours. Last-hit at the edge of your range, take the poke you have to, and look for short trades: dash in, land your stun, and walk out with attack-speed stacks before they answer. Against ranged mids, do not force kills that are not there. Stay even and accept that walking up costs health you cannot get back yet. Track the enemy jungler before you commit a dash forward, because an Irelia who used Bladesurge (1st) on the wave has no escape, and every jungler knows it. Your job is to reach your first item even, then turn the lane your way.
Mid Game
Once your first item lands, the lane flips your way and the roams start. Shove the wave with your resets, then leave. You are a real roam threat, and a kill in a side lane is worth more than the minions you gave up. Your dash makes you great at contesting scuttle and joining fights your jungler starts, and mid priority lets you crash the wave and walk to dragon or herald with tempo. Keep the wave shoving when an objective is near so you arrive first, and use your stun to punish anyone caught too far up. This is where a snowball turns into pressure nobody can contain.
Late Game
Late game Irelia deals sustained damage, so she needs to reach a carry and keep attacking rather than rely on one burst. Push a side lane between fights, then enter grouped fights only after identifying Bladesurge (1st) kills or Unsteady marks. Defiant Dance (2nd) reduces incoming damage but will not carry Irelia through crowd control, so wait for the most dangerous disables before committing.
Teamfights
Find an entry that leaves a marked unit available for repositioning. Land Vanguard's Edge (Ult) on a reachable carry, use Bladesurge (1st) on the mark, and place Flawless Duet (3rd) so its connecting line adds the stun and another reset. The ultimate wall damages and slows the first crossing rather than pinning targets to terrain. If the carry cannot be reached safely, damage the frontline while preserving a dash route instead of committing without a reset.
