Irelia Baron Lane Wild Rift Guide

Irelia Baron lane counters include Garen, Renekton, and Malphite. See the best build, runes, matchups, and game plan for Wild Rift Patch 7.3.

How to play

  • Build your passive before fighting Hit minions with abilities to build your passive attack speed, then trade while the bonus is active.
  • Dash to targets that refresh your dash Your 1st ability refreshes if it kills the target or hits an enemy marked by your 3rd ability or ultimate. Use these targets to dash more than once.
  • Keep a way out through the wave Leave a low-health minion behind you before dashing in with your 1st ability, so you have a target to dash back to.

Strengths

  • Relentless mobility: dash resets through minions and marked enemies make her nearly impossible to pin or escape.
  • Strong snowballer whose mid-game skirmishing and backline access can take over a match.
  • Defiant Dance (2nd) blunts the enemy's key spell, letting her win trades she had no right to take.

Weaknesses

  • Genuinely weak early: low health, soft damage before stacks, and every counterpick targets her lane phase.
  • Reset dependent: with no minions or marks to dash to, she is a squishy melee with no exit.
  • Falls behind hard if bullied, and a behind Irelia struggles to matter again.

Irelia Baron Lane Counters

Who counters Irelia Baron Lane in Wild Rift (WR)? These champions beat Irelia in the Baron lane matchup, with how each one wins. Learn to play around them or ban them in ranked.

  • Garen: The silence cuts your combo mid-pattern and his regen erases your poke, so early trades favor him. He cannot catch a healthy Irelia later.
  • Renekton: Renekton's Fury-empowered Ruthless Predator (2nd) locks Irelia down before Defiant Dance (2nd) can reposition her, while Slice and Dice (3rd) exits before she rebuilds Ionian Fervor (Passive). Do not contest the wave while his Fury bar is red, preserve Bladesurge (1st) targets behind you, and take longer trades only after the empowered stun and second dash are unavailable.
  • Malphite: Armor answers your stacks, his poke is hard to dodge forever, and his engage covers too much ground to simply walk away from. His level 5 combo deletes squishies, and early Irelia qualifies, though you out-scale him later.
  • Jax: Counter Strike (3rd) dodges the attacks that carry Ionian Fervor (Passive) and then stuns Irelia at the end, so entering with a fully stacked passive does not solve the duel. Use Flawless Duet (3rd) to force Counter Strike (3rd) from range, dash away before it finishes, and commit through the wave only during that cooldown.

Champions Irelia Is Strong Against

Irelia's best matchups in Wild Rift. Irelia holds an edge against these picks in the Baron lane role, so look to press the advantage and contest objectives.

  • Kayle: A free lane until her ranged form, and a target you specifically beat after it. Her melee phase cannot stop you from taking every wave, and a behind Kayle never comes online.
  • Sion: Sion is large and his charged Decimating Smash (1st) is telegraphed enough to dash aside. Defiant Dance (2nd) reduces its damage but does not prevent the knockup, so reposition rather than treating W (2nd) as crowd-control immunity.
  • Gnar: Your dashes reach both forms, and W (2nd) shrugs off the boomerang poke Mini Gnar relies on, so a stun into combo kills him before the rage bar saves him. Only Mega Gnar near a wall is a real threat.

Early Game

Let the matchup decide how quickly you push. Against early bruisers, farm with Bladesurge (1st) and keep the wave close enough that a failed dash chain does not leave you exposed. Against slower tanks, prepare low-health minions, stack Ionian Fervor (Passive), and use those resets to take a short trade before dashing back. Defiant Dance (2nd) reduces the matchup's largest damage spell, but it does not prevent a stun, knockup, or other crowd control. A minion is an escape route only if Bladesurge (1st) kills it, so check its health before committing.

Mid Game

First item gives you real side-lane and river pressure. Crash before moving to Herald, then enter through a wave or a flank where Flawless Duet (3rd) and Vanguard's Edge (Ult) can create the first Bladesurge (1st) resets. The ultimate's initial barrage marks champions, but crossing its surrounding wall only damages and slows, so do not plan a second dash around the wall. If the enemy sends several champions to answer your side lane, back away through prepared minions and let your team take space elsewhere instead of forcing the outnumbered play.

Late Game

Late game, choose between side-lane pressure and a delayed teamfight entry. You can punish a squishy defender in a long lane, but a blind push into several missing enemies wastes the mobility that should make you hard to catch. In grouped fights, let the first control spell land elsewhere, then dash through marked or killable targets to reach a carry. Use Defiant Dance (2nd) on the largest incoming damage, not as protection from crowd control, and count every available reset before committing.

Teamfights

Fight from an angle that gives you a route in and a route out. Vanguard's Edge (Ult) can mark several champions with its initial barrage, while Flawless Duet (3rd) either locks the carry or interrupts a diver threatening your own backline. Dash only after identifying the next reset, weave attacks to maintain Ionian Fervor (Passive), and hold Defiant Dance (2nd) for the burst that follows your entry. If the enemy saves reliable crowd control for you, threaten the flank until they spend it rather than giving them an easy target.
