Diana Mid Lane Wild Rift Guide
Who counters Diana in Wild Rift? The toughest Diana mid lane counters are Galio, Lissandra, and Kassadin. Full Diana Mid Lane counters and matchups, plus the best build, runes, and game plan for Patch 7.2c.
Overview
Diana is an assassin whose engage does not depend on landing a skillshot. She leaps a huge distance onto whoever she marked, pulls nearby enemies together with Moonfall, and deletes the softest target while her shield soaks the damage coming back. There is nothing to dodge on her engage: she farms quietly, hits her level, then all-ins all at once. In mid she is a melee burst skirmisher who plays for the all-in, not the lane. Early you last-hit, shield through poke, and stack your passive on minions so the third hit cleaves and resets. Once your ultimate is online the lane flips: shove, leap, pull, and the immobile mage who was poking you gets locked down and killed. That same package makes her one of the better roamers in Wild Rift, because a gap-close that pulls does not need the enemy to misplay, only to be standing somewhere you can reach. The cost is range and timing. Before her ultimate she is a short-range farmer that lane bullies push around, and once she leaps she is fully committed. Whiff the dive, waste the shield on chip, or jump into a Galio who was waiting, and the strongest all-in in the lane becomes a melee champion stuck in the open with her best button on cooldown.
Strengths
- Her leap resets on a kill, closing distance no immobile mid can answer, and Moonfall drags the target into her team's follow-up.
- Moonfall pulls the enemy team into one spot, turning a clean dive into fight-starting lockdown.
- Her shield absorbs the poke that stops other melee mids, so she survives chip lanes and wins the all-in at her spike.
Weaknesses
- Melee range with one engage tool, so ranged mids kite and poke her down before her ultimate comes online.
- Fully committed once she leaps; a bad jump or a baited pull strands her with no escape and no shield.
- Hard crowd control and tanky bodies blunt her burst, and she has no backup plan when the carry survives.

Diana Mid Lane Counters
Who counters Diana Mid Lane in Wild Rift (WR)? These champions beat Diana in the mid lane matchup, with how each one wins. Learn to play around them or ban them in ranked.
- Galio: Galio is built to beat you: his shield blanks your burst, his taunt catches you mid-combo, and his magic resist cuts your damage to chip, so he wins the all-in your kit wants.
- Lissandra: Lissandra's root meets your leap and her self-stasis cancels the kill you committed to, while her wave clear ignores your shove, so your one engage never gets a clean payoff.
- Kassadin: Early the lane is yours, but his silence shuts down your dive, and once his ultimate is online he blinks out every time you commit and out-scales your whole plan.
- Ryze: Ryze's root is point-and-click, so it pins your leap mid-combo and cannot be dodged, while his low-cooldown poke chunks you faster than your shield refreshes and his health pool eats your burst.
- Swain: Swain drains health back faster than your combo deals it, his root catches your leap and pulls you into the rest of his kit, and his ultimate heals him through the all-in you started.
Champions Diana Is Strong Against
Diana's best matchups in Wild Rift. Diana holds an edge against these picks in the mid lane role, so look to press the advantage and contest objectives.
- Lux: Her whole threat is one long-range snare, and your shield soaks the chip while you scale. Once the binding misses, nothing stops your leap and she has no dash to escape the pull.
- Ziggs: None of his bombs stop your leap, and he is squishy enough to die to the full combo, since a satchel hop cannot save a mage you have already pulled.
- Fizz: His pole-vault dodges targeted spells, but your cleave covers the ground he lands on and the pull is not something he can hop over, while your shield soaks the burst he lands back.
- Syndra: Syndra's only answers to a dive are skillshots, and your shield covers her sphere poke while you scale. Once her scatter stun is spent, she has no dash to escape the pull and the combo.
Early Game
The first levels are about reaching your spike without giving anything up. Stack your passive on the wave so the third hit cleaves and resets your cooldowns, last-hit at the edge of your reach, and save the shield for trades and ganks instead of spending it on minions. Against shorter-range mages you can press a little: drop your moon swipe and trade with the shield up, since your sustain wins those fights. Against real poke and range, just farm, soak what the shield refunds, and refuse the bait, because nothing in your kit answers a ranged mid until your ultimate exists. Ward the river the moment you push out, since a melee mid with one dash and no escape is exactly what the enemy jungler wants to find.
Mid Game
Your ultimate coming online changes everything. A loaded leap plus the pull kills any squishy who lets you reach combo range, and most immobile mids cannot stop you reaching it. Shove the wave with your cleave reset, then leave with the dive ready and go hunt, because Diana roams as hard as she lanes and the pull works just as well on a sidelaner as it does in lane. Mid priority lets you collapse on scuttle fights, where leaping into a clustered jungle duo and pulling them together flips the contest, and it lets you zone the enemy off dragon and herald, since anyone who steps wide gets picked. Every roam can strand you if you misjudge it, so push out with an escape path in mind.
Late Game
By now the full combo removes a carry, so late game is patient work: get the leap onto the right target without dying while you look for the angle. Keep your ultimate ready and your shield saved for the moment you commit, and watch the edges of the map for the flank or the flash-pull that catches their back line out of position. The danger never changes: you are a short-range diver in fights full of lockdown, so timing your entry and exit is everything. Commit only to targets you know will die, take the reset when a kill drops and chain it to the next target, and never open a fight by leaping into their whole front line because the pull looked tempting. A Diana who survives and picks her dives wins fights; a dead one wastes her team's best engage.
Teamfights
Diana does not chip a teamfight; she either starts it with a dive or pulls the enemy into one spot and bursts the middle. The best case is landing among their carries and dragging two or three of them together with Moonfall, which is both your damage setup and lockdown your team follows up on. If the clean multi-pull is not there, save the engage for their back line, since a reset on the dive turns a good fight into a chain of kills rather than one trade. Your shield is what keeps you alive through the first wave of peel, so time it with the leap, not before. Find the carry, jump, pull, and let the burst and the reset decide how many kills you chain.
