Amumu Jungle Wild Rift Guide
Who counters Amumu in Wild Rift? The toughest Amumu jungle counters are Nidalee, Lillia, and Fiddlesticks. Full Amumu Jungle counters and matchups, plus the best build, runes, and game plan for Patch 7.2c.
Overview
Amumu is the jungler who turns one good throw into a won teamfight. Bandage Toss is a line skillshot that stuns and pulls him to whatever it hits, Despair drains health from everyone nearby, Tantrum cuts the physical damage he takes and deals area damage, and Curse of the Sad Mummy locks down everyone caught in it at once. He is a tank whose ultimate starts the fight whenever he decides, on his terms. He wins through patience. His early clear is steady, his ganks depend on landing one skillshot, and before items he mostly just soaks damage in duels. None of that matters much, because the moment his ultimate is up he can jump into three or four people and lock the whole group while his team deletes them. Amumu does not snowball lanes; he waits for the first real objective fight and decides it. His weakness is that same skillshot. Bandage Toss is slow and straight, and if it misses he is a melee tank with no gap closer, standing in the open and often out of mana. He is mana-hungry early, weak in early skirmishes, and easy to invade before he comes online. Protect that window and he is one of the most reliable engage junglers in Wild Rift.
Strengths
- His ultimate locks down multiple targets at once and can decide a teamfight the moment it lands.
- His percent-health aura and physical damage reduction let him outlast tanks and bruisers in long fights.
- He scales cleanly, since every item makes the engage stickier, so falling behind early rarely takes him out of the game.
Weaknesses
- His whole game rides on one slow, straight skillshot, and a missed Bandage Toss leaves him with nothing to do.
- His early jungle burns mana fast and his duel before items is weak, so aggressive junglers can invade and bully him.
- He has no real escape, so he is easy to collapse on when his stun and ultimate are down.

Amumu Jungle Counters
Who counters Amumu Jungle in Wild Rift (WR)? These champions beat Amumu in the jungle matchup, with how each one wins. Learn to play around them or ban them in ranked.
- Nidalee: Her spears poke you down before you get close, and her fast clear lets her invade your mana-hungry start. A straight-line engage rarely lands on a champion built to kite and reposition.
- Lillia: Lillia drifts out of Bandage Toss range while her burn wears you down from a distance. If the bandage misses you are an immobile tank with nothing to do, and her sleep starts fights on her terms.
- Fiddlesticks: A missed Bandage Toss strands you inside his Crowstorm, feared and silenced while his drain ticks you down. His fear lasts longer than your stun, and he out-zones your ultimate in the cramped objective fights you want to start.
Champions Amumu Is Strong Against
Amumu's best matchups in Wild Rift. Amumu holds an edge against these picks in the jungle role, so look to press the advantage and contest objectives.
- Talon: Talon's burst does little against your resists, and your ultimate pins him the moment he blinks in. He has no health bar to trade with you, so a failed gank near you becomes his death.
- Rengar: Rengar's leap-and-burst combo needs a squishy target, and you are not one. His damage bounces off your frame while your multi-target stun holds him in place with no reset to escape.
- Viego: Viego lives on resets, but your Bandage Toss and group lockdown stop him before he secures the kill that keeps him alive, and his weak early duel cannot break a tank.
Early Game
Your first clear is steady rather than fast, so route for mana rather than racing a timer you will lose. Despair and Tantrum clear camps comfortably, but watch your mana, because an empty bar means no gank and no escape. Finish the rotation and take scuttle, which puts you on level five with your ultimate up. Once the camps are respawning, that is your window to walk at a lane: the gank is real the moment Bandage Toss lands, and the stun chain usually finishes it. Clear again when the camps are back and repeat. Be careful at scuttle, since a strong early duelist will simply out-damage you over the crab, so contest with your laners nearby or give it up and farm. Track the enemy jungler, ward your own buffs, and accept that this phase is about surviving until you matter.
Mid Game
Six minutes brings dragon and Herald together, and this is where you stop farming the jungle and start deciding fights. A clean Bandage Toss onto their carry, then the ultimate landing on the whole group, is the cleanest objective trade there is, so contest when your team can follow up. If the fight looks even, take Herald and trade away the dragon rather than throwing your ultimate into a coin flip, though a team built to hold long fights is a reason to play for soul instead. You can also invade, because your percent-health aura and area damage win a counter-jungle skirmish when you bring a teammate. Path toward whatever spawns next, since your tempo comes from setting up fights rather than out-clearing anyone.
Late Game
Late game Amumu exists for teamfights, so stop hunting solo plays and position for the one engage that wins the fight. You cannot catch anyone in a footrace and you do not want to duel a fed carry alone, so play around vision and find the angle where your ultimate hits the most people. Baron and the late dragons are ideal: the space is cramped, the enemies are clumped, and one engage into their backline can end the game on the spot. Hold the engage until your team can actually follow it, because a wasted ultimate usually means dying and watching the rest from the death timer. Build to survive the burst long enough to land the throw, and let your team do the killing.
Teamfights
You are the engage, and almost nothing else matters until you commit it. Find the flank or the choke where their carries are stacked, go in with Bandage Toss or Flash plus ultimate, and lock the whole group while your team collapses. Despair keeps draining everyone standing next to you, Tantrum keeps hitting the cluster, and your damage reduction lets you hold the middle of the fight instead of melting in it. The hard part is timing: engage a beat too early and you are alone, a beat too late and the carries have scattered. Get it right and Curse of the Sad Mummy is the most decisive single button a jungler can press.
