Norra Mid Lane Wild Rift Guide
Norra mid lane counters include Ekko, Akali, and Zed. See the best build, runes, matchups, and game plan for Wild Rift Patch 7.3.
How to play
- Mark enemies before your charged shot Hit your 3rd ability to mark and slow the enemy, then charge your 1st ability and aim it at them for extra damage.
- Save your banish for a dangerous approach Your 2nd ability briefly removes enemies from the fight. Use it on someone diving you, then move away and prepare a spell for their return.
- Aim your ultimate through grouped enemies Swipe each volley toward the enemy team while keeping a safe position.
Strengths
- Long range and portals let her poke the wave and the enemy mid from a distance most casters cannot answer.
- Portalpalooza (Ult) can send four manually aimed waves of yarn balls through a clustered fight, with an 80% slow on the first champion each projectile hits and 140% damage on the fourth recast.
- Strong objective control: with mid priority and her range she zones enemies off dragon and herald.
Weaknesses
- No unconditional dash or blink; Memory Surge's (1st) recoil requires a full charge, while spending Journey to Nowhere (2nd) removes her main emergency peel.
- Mobile assassins and gap-closing skirmishers can cross her range and punish her limited escape options.
- Her combo needs charge time and spacing, so constant pressure or longer enemy range stops her from ever setting up.

Norra Mid Lane Counters
Who counters Norra Mid Lane in Wild Rift (WR)? These champions beat Norra in the mid lane matchup, with how each one wins. Learn to play around them or ban them in ranked.
- Ekko: Ekko dashes through your poke, shields the chip you do land, and his ultimate undoes the one good combo you finally hit, so the matchup only gets worse after his first item.
- Akali: Akali's dashes close the gap Norra wants to preserve, but Twilight Shroud (2nd) does not make her immune to aimed area effects. Place Threads of Homecoming (3rd) or Journey to Nowhere (2nd) over the shroud, then use the enlarged hitbox from Threads (3rd) to make the next Memory Surge (1st) easier to land.
- Zed: Living Shadow (2nd) lets Zed change angles around Memory Surge (1st), and Norra's conditional recoil is not a dependable escape from Death Mark (Ult). Save Journey to Nowhere (2nd) to remove him during the all-in or deny his follow-up, while tracking the shadow he can return to.
- Fizz: His pole vault goes untargetable straight through your poke and your ultimate, and once he is on you he can wait out the hop, so his all-in beats yours every time he reaches melee.
- Yasuo: Wind Wall (2nd) blocks Memory Surge (1st) and Beloved Trinket (Passive) projectiles, but Journey to Nowhere (2nd) and the ground-targeted Threads of Homecoming (3rd) bypass projectile interception. Force the wall with a projectile, then use the portal control while he dashes through the wave.
Champions Norra Is Strong Against
Norra's best matchups in Wild Rift. Norra holds an edge against these picks in the mid lane role, so look to press the advantage and contest objectives.
- Annie: A charged Memory Surge (1st) reaches Annie before her short spell range, and its recoil helps Norra stay outside Flash-Tibbers (Ult) distance while Pyromania (Passive) is loaded. Track the passive stacks, use the bolt on each farm approach, and hold Journey to Nowhere (2nd) for the moment Annie commits rather than spending the banish on routine wave control.
- Veigar: Memory Surge (1st) can be charged beyond Veigar's early spell range, while its recoil helps Norra leave Event Horizon (3rd) without walking across the cage edge. Punish him during the cage cooldown, use Journey to Nowhere (2nd) to deny his burst follow-up, and turn the resulting priority into river control before his passive stacks catch up.
- Syndra: She has to place and gather her spheres to do real damage, which means walking into range your bolt already controls, so her setup costs her health every time.
- Orianna: Memory Surge (1st) can be charged beyond Orianna's ball leash, while Portalpalooza (Ult) attacks from two endpoints and forces her to choose which angle to shield. Fire when the ball is committed to the wave, recoil away from Command: Dissonance (2nd), and use Journey to Nowhere (2nd) before Shockwave (Ult) can convert her setup into a full rotation.
- Mel: Mel has no dash, but Rebuttal (2nd) can make her invulnerable to and reflect Memory Surge (1st) and Beloved Trinket (Passive) projectiles. Journey to Nowhere (2nd) and Threads of Homecoming (3rd) bypass projectile interception, so use that control to draw her 0.75-second defense before releasing the charged bolt.
Early Game
Lane at the range your bolt allows and make every last hit cost the enemy health. Farm with the charged bolt, timing the release so it lands on the enemy mid rather than dying to a minion, and hold the banishing portal for the moment they overextend instead of spending it on the wave. Against short-range or immobile mages, push the tempo and punish them for contesting minions. Against anyone with a dash or longer reach, sit back, farm at max distance, and keep the banishing portal strictly for the dive, because spending it as poke leaves you defenceless for the gank. Ward the river early, since an immobile mid on open ground is exactly what the enemy jungler wants.
Mid Game
Your ultimate coming online changes what the map is worth to you. A grouped fight at scuttle or a contested dragon is where Portalpalooza (Ult) can send all four recasts through the same choke. Push the wave with Memory Surge (1st), then use mid priority to move to the river and pressure objectives instead of chasing kills you cannot reach. Journey to Nowhere (2nd) can remove a target for 2.25 seconds, but neither team can interact across the two realms, so time the return for your jungler or sidelaner to be ready rather than wasting their damage into the banishment.
Late Game
By now the poke does real damage and the ultimate decides fights, so the job is getting your range onto the right target without dying to reach the angle. Hold the ultimate until their team stacks on an objective or a choke, and chip from the back of your group the rest of the time. Vision is your mobility: wards and brush lines are what let you hold a safe poke angle at all, so a warded flank is the difference between a free rotation and a death. The danger never changes. You are a long-range mage in a fight full of people who want to stand next to you, so the skill is patience, spacing, and waiting for their formation to bunch tight enough for one ultimate.
Teamfights
Norra does not brawl in a teamfight; she works from the edge and then closes it. Before the teams meet, use Memory Surge (1st) and basic-ability hits to cycle Beloved Trinkets (Passive), then apply Threads (3rd) so its doubled hitbox makes the next bolt and trinket detonations easier to land. Portalpalooza (Ult) lasts up to ten seconds, but the damage only comes when you aim its four recasts; sweep the paired yarn balls through the choke and protect the 140%-damage fourth shot. Journey to Nowhere (2nd) can peel a diver or temporarily remove a straggler, but the target is unavailable to your teammates until it returns from the Spirit Realm.
