Lucian Dragon Lane Wild Rift Guide
Lucian Dragon lane counters include Caitlyn, Jhin, and Smolder. See the best build, runes, matchups, and game plan for Wild Rift Patch 7.3.
How to play
- Attack after each ability Each ability makes your next basic attack fire twice. Use that attack before casting another ability to get more damage from the trade.
- Take short trades when spells are ready Burst the enemy, then move away while your abilities recover.
- Keep your dash for dangerous moments Save your 3rd ability to dash away from an important spell instead of using it to move into several enemies.
Strengths
- One of the strongest laning phases in the role, bursting trades with his double-shot weave.
- High mobility for a carry: the dash repositions, dodges, and chains his burst rotations.
- Snowballs skirmishes and dives hard with his early and mid-game power.
Weaknesses
- Short range for a marksman, forcing him into spacing fights other carries avoid.
- Falls off late: hypercarries out-scale him if he never built a lead.
- Burns mana quickly: with an empty bar he keeps his basic attacks but loses the ability casts that arm Lightslinger (Passive) and refresh his dash.

Lucian Dragon Lane Counters
Who counters Lucian Dragon Lane in Wild Rift (WR)? These champions beat Lucian in the Dragon lane matchup, with how each one wins. Learn to play around them or ban them in ranked.
- Caitlyn: Caitlyn punishes your walk-ups from a range your dash cannot bridge for free, and she controls the lane until her power curve dips into your mid-game spike.
- Jhin: Jhin punishes the exact aggression your kit wants: his root catches you mid-weave, his fourth shot out-trades your burst at a range your double-shot cannot answer, and Curtain Call (Ult) zones your all-in.
- Smolder: Smolder's stacks upgrade Q (1st) with area damage, burn, and eventually an execute, but they do not increase his attack or Q (1st) cast range. Punish his weaker early lane before those damage upgrades outscale Lucian's short burst windows.
Champions Lucian Is Strong Against
Lucian's best matchups in Wild Rift. Lucian holds an edge against these picks in the Dragon lane role, so look to press the advantage and contest objectives.
- Miss Fortune: Your weave cancels her strut (2nd) and out-bursts her bounce poke in every committed trade. Her big damage is a channel and yours is a rotation, and rotations win duels.
- Samira: Piercing Light (1st) is a non-projectile line attack and is not destroyed by Blade Whirl (2nd). The wind wall (2nd) does block Lucian's basic-attack projectiles, Lightslinger's (Passive) additional shot, Ardent Blaze (2nd), and The Culling (Ult) shots, so bait it before committing the projectile-heavy part of the rotation.
- Twitch: Piercing Light (1st) and Lightslinger (Passive) front-load damage before Twitch has enough Deadly Venom (Passive) for Contaminate (3rd), while Relentless Pursuit (3rd) avoids the cask slow or his reveal angle. Push the early wave, dash sideways when Ambush (1st) opens, and force short burst trades before Spray and Pray (Ult) turns the later fight into a range and uptime contest.
Lucian Dragon Lane Synergies
The best duo partners for Lucian in the Wild Rift Dragon lane role. The Dragon lane is a 2v2, so queue with one of these picks to make the lane and the mid game much easier.
- Nami: Nami's heal on Lucian and Bubble's immobilization near him each grant Vigilance, empowering his next two shots with bonus magic damage. Tidecaller's Blessing (3rd) adds its own on-hit damage and slow but does not by itself count as a heal, shield, or immobilize for Vigilance.
- Braum: Your double-shot passive stacks Concussive Blows (Passive) twice per trade, hitting the stun before the enemy finishes one rotation. His frontline lets you dash in without paying for it.
- Thresh: Hook and Flay (3rd) immobilize near Lucian to grant Vigilance, while Dark Passage (2nd) can shield him and grant another trigger when he takes the lantern. The lantern offers a strong retreat route, but Lucian still has to remain in click range and cannot treat a deep dash as consequence-free.
Early Game
Trade by casting once, consuming Lightslinger (Passive), then casting again instead of overlapping abilities before the empowered attack. Piercing Light (1st) targets an enemy but damages through the full line, so target a minion to reach a champion behind it. Watch mana between rotations: basic attacks remain available when empty, but no abilities means no extra Lightslinger (Passive) shots or active dash. Coordinate with your support's heals, shields, and immobilizes so Vigilance is stored before the all-in.
Mid Game
Spend your lead while it is biggest. The Culling (Ult) fires at the first enemy in its path, so a tank or minion wave can body-block shots rather than the channel shredding an entire clustered corridor. Use its three-second moving channel to pressure one line, and cast Relentless Pursuit (3rd) during it to adjust the angle as enemies reposition.
Late Game
The hypercarries have arrived, so fight around single windows instead of long trades. Your burst still deletes squishy targets, but you get one rotation to prove it: dash in when their cooldowns are spent, burst the carry, and slide out before the answer lands. Position as the second-strike carry rather than the frontline damage, and use the Culling (Ult) for zone control. Protect the lead you built, because it is the reason you still matter.
Teamfights
Fight in burst windows. Stay at the fight's edge, weave each ability into a Lightslinger (Passive) attack, and remember that those attacks refund Relentless Pursuit's (3rd) cooldown by one second; or two on champion hits. The Culling (Ult) can move and dash during its channel but every shot stops on the first enemy, so find a clear line to the priority target or use it to force movement. Allied control, healing, and shielding can load Vigilance during the fight for extra magic damage on the next shots.
