Riven Jungle Wild Rift Guide
Who counters Riven in Wild Rift? The toughest Riven jungle counters are Vi and Rammus. Full Riven Jungle counters and matchups, plus the best build, runes, and game plan for Patch 7.2c.
Overview
Riven is a jungler whose clear is one long ability combo and whose ganks commit fully. Her kit is three Q dashes, a shield and stun on W, and a long leap on E that doubles as her escape, all with no mana bar to slow her down. Chain the rotation cleanly and camps die fast and ganks end in kills. She wins by being early. Riven hits her power band the moment her kit is online and her first item lands, and from there she wants to be everywhere: first to scuttle, first to a gank, deep in the enemy jungle stealing camps. The knockup on her third Q plus the W stun locks a ganked laner down long enough to die. Snowball that into objectives and the game closes before the scaling junglers get to scale. Her core problem is the clock. The shield is her only real defense, and once burst or sustain outpaces it she has no second layer. She is also demanding to play: miss the combo and a winning skirmish becomes a fight she can easily lose. Riven is a snowball, not a scaler, and if the lead stops growing she falls off.
Strengths
- Explosive gank threat once her clear is done: her stun, dashes, and burst lock a laner down before they can react.
- Fast, manaless clear with a shield lets her contest scuttle, invade, and keep tempo without stopping for resources.
- Dominant early skirmisher who wins most jungle duels inside her window and dives the backline cleanly in fights.
Weaknesses
- Falls off the longer the game runs, since farm junglers outscale her once her early lead stops growing.
- The shield is her only defense, so burst or sustained damage that outpaces it leaves her with nothing.
- High execution: a dodged stun or a fumbled combo turns a winning skirmish into a fight she can lose.

Riven Jungle Counters
Who counters Riven Jungle in Wild Rift (WR)? These champions beat Riven in the jungle matchup, with how each one wins. Learn to play around them or ban them in ranked.
- Vi: Vi punishes the exact window you live in: her charged knockup catches you mid-dash and her lock-on ultimate pulls you out of any escape you planned, so your mobility and shield mean little.
- Rammus: Every dash and auto in your combo feeds Defensive Ball Curl straight back into your own health bar, and his taunt burns your shield while you stand there hitting armor you cannot cut through.
Champions Riven Is Strong Against
Riven's best matchups in Wild Rift. Riven holds an edge against these picks in the jungle role, so look to press the advantage and contest objectives.
- Master Yi: His early clear is weak and his ganks barely exist before his items, which is exactly the window your early power owns, and a Yi who falls behind early rarely catches up.
- Viego: Viego needs a drawn-out duel to heal through and reset off, but your combo bursts him inside one shield window and your dashes dodge his spear, so the fight never lasts long enough.
- Talon: Talon has no answer for a bruiser who survives his combo: your shield soaks the opener, your dashes keep pace with his mobility, and his squishy frame loses the longer trade once his burst is down.
Early Game
Your first clear is quick, so use it to get ahead right away. Dash between camps with Q and let the W shield eat the hits, so you finish the full clear with a gank ready, then take scuttle for level five and your ultimate. That is the timing that matters: the stun is online with the full combo behind it, so use the camp respawn window to path toward whichever lane is pushed into a gankable spot, then clear again when the camps are back. Contest scuttle when you arrive even or ahead, because your dueling beats most junglers in a straight fight at this stage, and a won crab fight means free vision and often a free pick. If the enemy jungler is a slow starter, take a camp from their jungle, since you win that fight early and your dashes let you leave if it goes wrong.
Mid Game
Six minutes is when your urgency should peak, because your power window is limited. Collapse on river and take dragon or Herald while few junglers want to fight you, contesting properly when your team is ahead. In an even game take Herald, since a tower converts your tempo immediately and soul asks you to still be relevant much later, which Riven is not. Between objectives, counter-jungle hard when you know where the enemy is, timing your invade around their clear so you catch them low or absent. Every gank that lands should turn into an objective, or you are spending your best minutes on nothing. A Riven who farms passively through her power spike throws away the only window she gets.
Late Game
Late game you are no longer the strongest jungler on the map, so stop playing like you are. Group with your team, look for picks before the big objectives, and use your dashes to flank rather than facecheck. Baron and Elder fights are where you earn your keep: dive the enemy carry the moment the fight commits, kill them, and trust your team to clean up the rest. You no longer win the open duels you used to own, so skip those fights, and respect that anti-shield tools or heavy burst on the enemy team cut deep into your survivability. Your job is to close the game off your early lead, and if it runs long, fight only where your team can follow.
Teamfights
You are a diver, not a frontline. Wait for the fight to start or for the enemy to spend their first round of crowd control, then leap in with E, land the stun, and put the full combo on their carry. Your knockup interrupts channels and key abilities, so time it to cancel an enemy ultimate or a fleeing dash instead of spending it on the tank. Keep moving with your Q dashes once you are in, because a Riven who stands still dies before the kill lands. If you cannot get in from the front, take the flank, since a stun onto the backline from the side ends fights faster. Save E for the way out, not just the way in, once your target drops.
