Tryndamere Baron Lane Wild Rift Guide

Who counters Tryndamere in Wild Rift? The toughest Tryndamere Baron lane counters are Malphite, Sion, and Jax. Full Tryndamere Baron Lane counters and matchups, plus the best build, runes, and game plan for Patch 7.2c.

Overview

Tryndamere can simply refuse to die. Undying Rage holds his health at the brink no matter what hits him, which lets him take dives, tower plays, and losing fights that would kill anyone else. Enemies who think they killed him often just watch him spin away. His engine is fury: it builds as he fights and crits, fuels the heal on Bloodlust, and makes his critical strikes hit harder. With crit items, a ramped Tryndamere duels most of the roster and takes towers faster than teams can rotate. The game plan is to drag defenders to a side lane that cannot hold him while his team plays with numbers elsewhere. The counterplay is well known: crowd control he cannot spin away from, Grievous Wounds for the heal, and the long cooldown after each undying window. Between those windows he dies like anyone else.

Strengths

  • Undying Rage makes him unkillable for its duration, enabling dives and escapes no one else can attempt.
  • Elite split pusher whose dueling forces two defenders or a lost tower.
  • Strong sustain and ramping crit damage, with fury turning farm into fight stats.

Weaknesses

  • Crowd control chains and kiting waste the undying window and deny his melee-range game.
  • With his ultimate down he dies like anyone else, and everyone tracks the cooldown.
  • Limited teamfight impact when he cannot reach the backline.

Tryndamere Baron Lane Counters

Who counters Tryndamere Baron Lane in Wild Rift (WR)? These champions beat Tryndamere in the Baron lane matchup, with how each one wins. Learn to play around them or ban them in ranked.

  • Malphite: Malphite's kit counters yours completely: armor against your crits, an attack speed slow on your whole damage plan, and poke that your sustain keeps paying for.
  • Sion: Sion has more health than your crits can burn through, his charged Q knocks you out of your spin, and the zombie passive keeps swinging after your undying window expires.
  • Jax: Jax's Counterstrike dodges the crit autos your whole champion is built on, and he out-scales the extended duel, so your undying window only delays the loss.
  • Wukong: Wukong's clone tricks you into spending your spin and ultimate on a decoy, then the real one bursts you with everything down. His knockup also interrupts your engage.

Champions Tryndamere Is Strong Against

Tryndamere's best matchups in Wild Rift. Tryndamere holds an edge against these picks in the Baron lane role, so look to press the advantage and contest objectives.

  • Kayle: Kayle's early melee form cannot fight a champion who runs her down and refuses to die, and every early kill sets her late-game form further back, usually too far to recover.
  • Mordekaiser: Mordekaiser's death realm forces a 1v1, and the 1v1 belongs to the champion who cannot die while his ultimate runs. Your sustain and crits beat his shield and burn.
  • Riven: Riven needs her burst combo to kill you before you ramp, and your ultimate makes that impossible. Once you survive her damage, you out-sustain and out-crit her.
  • Urgot: Urgot wants a long grinding trade, but his execute cannot kill you while Undying Rage runs, and he is too immobile to escape once your crits ramp.

Early Game

Build fury, keep your sustain up, and punish every mistake. Farm with autos, use Bloodlust to heal between trades, and take short exchanges with a full fury bar, where your crits hit surprisingly hard for the level. Spinning Slash is both your engage and your exit, so use it carefully. Level five changes the lane completely: with Undying Rage up, dives that should kill you become kills you collect on the way out.

Mid Game

A crit item plus your ultimate starts your split push. Push a side lane nonstop, duel whoever answers, and when they collapse, spin out or survive the worst of it with Undying Rage. Every minute two defenders spend on you, your team spends on the map. Group only when the enemy stops answering your push, and join those fights from the flank.

Late Game

You are the win condition that never groups. Keep a side lane pushed, out-duel single defenders, and force the enemy to choose between losing towers and losing objectives. Track your own ultimate honestly: with it up, take fights that look crazy; with it down, play safe like everyone else has to. Also track Grievous Wounds on their team, since it cuts deep into your sustain.

Teamfights

If you must join, come from the flank and come late. Spin onto the carry once their crowd control is spent, cut their attack damage with Mocking Shout, and crit through the peel with the undying window covering the focus. Time the ultimate for their burst, not before it, and spend its last second leaving instead of getting greedy. Better still, stay in a side lane and make the fight four versus five somewhere you are not.
