Wukong Baron Lane Wild Rift Guide

Who counters Wukong in Wild Rift? The toughest Wukong Baron lane counters are Sion, Malphite, and Shen. Full Wukong Baron Lane counters and matchups, plus the best build, runes, and game plan for Patch 7.2c.

Overview

Wukong is built around his clone. Warrior Trickster leaves a decoy behind while the real Wukong turns invisible and repositions, and the moment enemies spend hitting the wrong Wukong decides most of his fights. He also has a dash, an empowered staff strike, and a spinning ultimate that knocks up everyone around him. His trade pattern is fast: dash in, hit hard with the empowered staff, then either finish the fight or vanish behind the clone while the enemy wastes cooldowns on the decoy. His passive gives him extra resistances when enemies surround him, so his dives are sturdier than they look. His weaknesses are the usual snowballer problems: ranged poke hurts his approach, his power fades against full builds, and with both dashes spent he is a plain melee bruiser with no escape. He wins by turning early kills into a mid game where Cyclone decides every grouped fight.

Strengths

  • The clone works like a free defensive cooldown: enemies waste key spells on the wrong Wukong.
  • Strong burst all-in behind a hard-hitting empowered strike, dangerous to squishies and tanks alike.
  • Cyclone is a top teamfight ultimate, knocking up everyone it touches.

Weaknesses

  • Cooldown-gated: with dash and clone spent, he has no exit and few answers.
  • Falls off against full-build carries, so his early lead has a time limit.
  • Ranged poke wears him down before every all-in window.

Wukong Baron Lane Counters

Who counters Wukong Baron Lane in Wild Rift (WR)? These champions beat Wukong in the Baron lane matchup, with how each one wins. Learn to play around them or ban them in ranked.

  • Sion: Sion has more health than your burst can finish: the charged knockup catches your dash-in, his shield soaks the combo, and the zombie passive keeps fighting after he dies.
  • Malphite: Malphite's armor stacking and shield are exactly what your burst cannot punch through, and the clone does not fool a ground-targeted charge that can still land on the real you.
  • Shen: Shen's taunt punishes a champion who commits a full combo: the moment you dash in, he pulls you into a trade on his terms, his block eats your autos, and his sustain outlasts your burst.
  • Volibear: Volibear tanks your burst and heals through the brawl: his charge stun catches your dash-in and his bite heals mid-fight, so your burst window never quite finishes him. His level three all-in also beats yours.

Champions Wukong Is Strong Against

Wukong's best matchups in Wild Rift. Wukong holds an edge against these picks in the Baron lane role, so look to press the advantage and contest objectives.

  • Gnar: Mini Gnar dies to your combo: your dash closes his boomerang spacing, the clone baits his hop, and he has no escape once you are on him. Only Mega form threatens you.
  • Renekton: Renekton's kill threat lives in one empowered stun, and your clone makes him guess which Wukong to spend it on. Once that combo misses, he has no follow-up.
  • Darius: Darius needs an extended brawl and his pull needs the right target: the clone hands him the wrong one, and your burst is done before the bleed ever stacks up.
  • Yasuo: His windwall stops projectiles you do not have, and the clone eats his engage, so a committed combo bursts a squishy skirmisher before his crit items arrive.

Early Game

Trade around the clone. Dash in, hit with the staff, and decide mid-trade whether the clone covers your exit or baits their answer. Spending W early to dodge a key spell is worth more than saving it for panic. Your all-in from level three is genuinely scary, and most laners cannot tell which Wukong to hit even when they win the trade. Against poke, farm and wait; one landed combo with jungle help flips most lanes.

Mid Game

First item plus Cyclone is your biggest spike of the game. The full sequence of dash, staff hit, and spin deletes squishies before peel can react, and the clone covers your exit. Look for river picks and Herald fights where your spin catches two enemies at once. Push your advantage hard, because your kit is about spending power now, not saving it for a late game that belongs to other champions.

Late Game

Your burst has weakened, so use your deception carefully. Flank fights with the dash, open with Cyclone where it hits two or more, and let the clone absorb the retaliation your real body can no longer afford. Against scaled carries you are the engage and the disruption, not the duelist. The spin still decides grouped fights; arriving at them healthy is the real skill.

Teamfights

You have two openings, based on how they position. If they group: flank and Cyclone through the cluster, knocking everyone up while your team follows. If they spread: dash onto the priority carry, hit, clone out, and re-enter once their cooldowns are wasted on the decoy. Your passive resistances make the dive sturdier than it looks, but the clone is your only exit plan, and a Wukong who spent it early has no way out.
