Aurora Mid Lane Wild Rift Guide

Aurora mid lane counters include Zed, Katarina, and Kassadin. See the best build, runes, matchups, and game plan for Wild Rift Patch 7.3.

How to play

  • Take short trades and move away Hit your 1st ability, then press it again to pull the spell back through the enemy. Back away after the return hit.
  • Keep your jump for danger Your 2nd ability lets you jump and briefly turn invisible. Keep it ready when enemies can reach you.
  • Use your ultimate around grouped enemies Your ultimate creates a slowing zone where crossing an edge teleports you to the other side. Use this movement to stay away from enemies while casting.

Strengths

  • Strong self-peel from The Weirding's (3rd) recoil and slow, plus Across the Veil's (2nd) dash, invisibility, and movement speed.
  • A real pick threat once her hex and ultimate are up, turning roams and river skirmishes into easy kills.
  • Between Worlds (Ult) slows enemies on the initial shockwave (Ult) and when they collide with its border; Aurora alone uses that border to dash to the opposite side.

Weaknesses

  • Cooldown-reliant and fragile: with her blink or her slow spent she is a squishy caster in melee range.
  • Her damage hinges on landing Twofold Hex (1st), recalling its marks through the target, and reaching three passive stacks; blocking or dodging the outward bolt removes much of that setup.
  • She needs a lead to snowball her roams; a lane that shoves her in leaves her farming and falling off.

Aurora Mid Lane Counters

Who counters Aurora Mid Lane in Wild Rift (WR)? These champions beat Aurora in the mid lane matchup, with how each one wins. Learn to play around them or ban them in ranked.

  • Zed: Zed matches your mobility and out-bursts you: his shadow gives him a blink to trade for yours, and once you spend your dash he picks an all-in your squishy frame loses.
  • Katarina: Katarina thrives in the messy fights your kit invites, and her resets punish you the moment your combo is on cooldown; blink in without killing her and she snowballs off your health bar.
  • Kassadin: Kassadin survives your early aggression and then outscales you completely, with a blink of his own that ignores your zone and chases your exits.
  • Twisted Fate: Across the Veil (2nd) makes Aurora invisible after its dash completes; Twisted Fate's global reveal exposes her through that invisibility. Gold Card (2nd) can also stop the follow-up before she reaches the border tricks of Between Worlds (Ult).

Champions Aurora Is Strong Against

Aurora's best matchups in Wild Rift. Aurora holds an edge against these picks in the mid lane role, so look to press the advantage and contest objectives.

  • Orianna: Orianna's damage follows the ball, so Across the Veil (2nd) can cross its control zone and The Weirding (3rd) can recoil Aurora away before Command: Dissonance (2nd) answers. Engage when the ball is on the wave rather than on Orianna, land both passes of Twofold Hex (1st), and leave before she recalls it for the shield and Shockwave (Ult) threat.
  • Mel: Rebuttal (2nd) can turn Aurora's incoming projectile pressure back during its brief window, but it cannot cover Mel again once the barrier expires. Bait it with the first bolt instead of committing the whole hex, then use Aurora's blink and slow to change the return angle and pull the marked spirit while Mel is immobile and Rebuttal (2nd) is on cooldown.
  • Vel'Koz: He out-ranges your bolts and his knockup combo hurts early, but an immobile artillery mage with no escape is exactly the target your slow and blink were built to delete.
  • Akali: Twofold Hex (1st) does not slow Akali or prevent her from using shroud. The Weirding (3rd) supplies Aurora's strong slow, and a Q (1st) mark already applied can still recall energy through Akali's position, but Aurora must predict her movement when invisibility removes direct targeting.

Early Game

Start by learning return paths. Hit the enemy and wave with the outward Twofold Hex (1st), move so the recalled energy passes through the champion again, and use The Weirding (3rd) to slow them while recoiling away. Across the Veil (2nd) can reposition for the return line or hide an exit, but hold it against ganks because the invisibility only begins after the dash completes. Trade until the third Spirit Abjuration (Passive) stack releases a healing Spirit, then back away while that sustain works.

Mid Game

The mid game is your strongest window. Shove, then roam with Across the Veil (2nd) and The Weirding (3rd) ready. Between Worlds (Ult) leaps forward with displacement immunity, sends out a slowing shockwave (Ult), and leaves the circular rift. Fight near its edge so touching the border sends Aurora to the diametrically opposite side while enemies colliding with it are slowed; close the rift early if the reposition would become dangerous.

Late Game

Late game your job is finding a return-Q (1st) angle and using the rift without trapping your own pathing. Mark several enemies with Twofold Hex (1st), move before the recast so all returning bolts share a useful line, and use Between Worlds (Ult) to threaten the backline while its border gives Aurora repeated cross-circle dashes. Your allies move normally through the rift; position it for Aurora's movement and enemy slows, not as team transportation.

Teamfights

Wait for the engage to commit, then mark the reachable targets with Twofold Hex (1st) and recoil from danger with The Weirding (3rd). Between Worlds (Ult) can carry Aurora into the fight with displacement immunity during its leap, but it does not pin enemies or transport allies. Use the border teleport to cross the rift and become untargetable during the travel, then recall Q (1st) through the marked formation. If lockdown is waiting, keep Across the Veil (2nd) for its dash and post-dash invisibility rather than spending every movement tool on entry.
