Overview
Vladimir is the mage who uses his own health bar as both resource and weapon. He pays for spells in blood instead of mana, sinks into a pool to dodge whatever was about to kill him, and covers the enemy team in a field that drains life from everyone in it. He does not win the fight in the first second; he wins it in the tenth, when his bar is climbing and theirs is not. His game is the standard scaling trade. The opening levels are weak and easy to abuse: a short-range caster with no mobility who cannot push fast. You spend them surviving and farming toward the spike that flips everything. Once his first items land, the constant healing and area damage make him a champion nobody can finish off, and real waveclear frees him to roam. The cost is that early game. Before items he is squishy, immobile between pool cooldowns, and helpless against the assassins who beat his scaling timer. The pool is one panic button per fight, not an escape plan, so burning it wrong leaves him a slow mage in the open with no way out. Survive the early game and the late game is a completely different story.
Strengths
- Constant self-healing that wins every long trade and outlasts enemies who can only burst him once.
- The pool dodges the one spell a fight hangs on, from point-and-click ultimates to skillshot crowd control.
- Elite scaling: once itemized he is durable area damage that heals through what should kill him.
Weaknesses
- A weak, abusable early game where short range and no escape make him easy prey for bullies and ganks.
- No hard crowd control of his own, so he sets up picks for others rather than landing them himself.
- Everything defensive rides on the pool; spend it on the wrong threat and he has nowhere to go.

Vladimir Mid Lane Counters
Who counters Vladimir Mid Lane in Wild Rift (WR)? These champions beat Vladimir in the mid lane matchup, with how each one wins. Learn to play around them or ban them in ranked.
- Morgana: Her binding and puddle bully the weak early game your whole plan depends on surviving, and a root timed for when your pool is down pins you for a trade you cannot escape.
- Ryze: Ryze's point-and-click root and relentless poke chip you faster than your Q heals it back, and he scales right alongside you with a shield and health pool that shrug off your burst.
- Kassadin: His magic shield absorbs your burst, his silence shuts off the Q healing that keeps you alive in trades, and once his ultimate is online he out-scales even you.
- Swain: Swain is the one battlemage who out-sustains you: his drain and ultimate refill health faster than your Q, his root pins you for the combo, and he gets too tanky to burst late.
Champions Vladimir Is Strong Against
Vladimir's best matchups in Wild Rift. Vladimir holds an edge against these picks in the mid lane role, so look to press the advantage and contest objectives.
- Lux: Her poke is exactly the kind of chip damage your healing erases, and she has nothing to stop you once you dive, since her whole defense is one root landing.
- Veigar: Veigar's plan is cage into one-shot, and your pool dodges both halves of it, while your healing shrugs off the poke he farms stacks with. He out-scales most mids, but not you.
- Brand: Brand's burst hits hard but it is limited, and your health bar refills, so once his rotation is spent you walk him down and he has no escape from it.
- Twisted Fate: His real threat is the map, not the lane, and his squishy frame folds to your all-in once you have items; only the gold card pick threat keeps the lane honest.
Early Game
The opening phase is purely about survival, so play it that way. Farm at the edge of the wave, soak the poke you cannot avoid, and trade only in short windows where your healing recovers more than their chip takes. Track the enemy jungler constantly, because a short-range mage with one pool and no real escape is the dream gank target, and bad positioning before level five hands the lane away. Do not push just to push: a shoved wave you cannot follow up on walks you into a freeze. Keep your health bar topped up, deny what you can, and remember that every minute you stay even brings the game closer to being yours.
Mid Game
This is where the scaling pays off. Your first item or two makes your waveclear real, and a cleared wave frees you to leave: shove, then roam to a side lane or river, where your sustained damage and all-in threat make ganks land. With mid priority, set up the dragons and Heralds your team contests, arriving as the body that does not die instead of the one that gets picked. In skirmishes you no longer trade to chip, you trade to win: pour your area damage into the cluster while your healing carries you through their answer. Save the pool for the gank that comes for you, not the first scary thing you see.
Late Game
Late game you are a diving frontliner who is not really one: a mage durable enough to walk into the enemy backline and heal back out. Your ultimate covers their whole formation, amplifying the damage that follows and draining life from the cluster while your own area damage stacks on top. This is where enemies who built to burst you find that one rotation no longer kills you; you heal the difference and keep casting. Position to reach the carry without throwing your life away, hold the pool for the lockdown that would end you, and let fights run long, because the longer they last, the further ahead your sustain pulls. A patient late-game Vlad is the hardest mid to remove from a fight.
Teamfights
Your job is to dive in, soak, and outlast. Open by getting into their cluster and dropping your ultimate across as many bodies as you can reach, then let your area damage and the drain do their slow work while your team follows up on the amplified damage. You are not the one who lands the pick; you are the one who survives the brawl everyone else dies in, so spend the pool on the crowd control or burst aimed at deleting you and heal through the rest. Pick an angle that reaches their backline without stranding you: dive too deep and pool too early and you are just a stuck mage, but time it right and nobody on their team is built to kill you.
