Zoe Mid Lane Wild Rift Guide
Who counters Zoe in Wild Rift? The toughest Zoe mid lane counters are Irelia, Kassadin, and Diana. Full Zoe Mid Lane counters and matchups, plus the best build, runes, and game plan for Patch 7.2c.
Overview
Zoe punishes a single positioning mistake with a kill. Paddle Star travels across half a screen and hits harder the longer it flies, Sleepy Trouble Bubble puts whoever it touches to sleep, and Spell Thief lets her pick up and fire a stolen summoner spell or item active mid-combo. Land the bubble, follow with a fully charged star, and most squishy mids are dead before they wake up. In lane she plays poke and punish from max range: chip with stars, threaten the bubble, and take the kill when someone walks a straight line or hugs a wall. She does not want to shove and brawl. When the lane stalls she roams, since a bubble thrown from fog onto a side lane sets up the same kill with far less warning. Her problem is that everything she does is a slow skillshot, and she has no real escape when it misses. Portal Jump is a short hop on a leash, not a Flash, so once a mobile assassin or all-in skirmisher closes the gap she is a fragile mage with her tools on cooldown. Land the combo and the fight is over before it starts; miss the bubble and she is the squishiest target on the map.
Strengths
- Among the longest burst ranges in the lane, so she chips enemy mids from a distance they can barely answer.
- One landed bubble turns into a full one-shot combo that kills any squishy target outright.
- Constant roam and pick threat: her sleep travels through fog and starts kills on lanes that never saw it coming.
Weaknesses
- Every kill depends on a slow-moving bubble, so one dodge leaves her with nothing for a long, dangerous window.
- No real escape, which makes her the first and easiest target for anyone who closes the gap.
- Punishing to play from behind, since a Zoe who cannot land the bubble adds almost nothing to a fight.

Zoe Mid Lane Counters
Who counters Zoe Mid Lane in Wild Rift (WR)? These champions beat Zoe in the mid lane matchup, with how each one wins. Learn to play around them or ban them in ranked.
- Irelia: She dashes through your minions straight onto you, and once she is on top of you the bubble is far too slow to save you. Her resets only make the lane worse as she stacks.
- Kassadin: Early he just eats your poke, but once his ultimate is online his blink dodges the bubble and dives you on repeat, closing the gap faster than your tools come back.
- Diana: Her shield soaks your poke, and her dash plus pull turns one landed engage into your whole health bar. The bubble travels too slowly to stop her once she commits.
- Yasuo: Wind Wall blocks both your star and your bubble, removing your whole kit with one button, and once he dashes in through your wave you have no answer to the all-in.
- Zed: His shadow swaps dodge the bubble and force an all-in you cannot escape, and once he has items his combo kills you faster than yours kills him.
Champions Zoe Is Strong Against
Zoe's best matchups in Wild Rift. Zoe holds an edge against these picks in the mid lane role, so look to press the advantage and contest objectives.
- Veigar: He is immobile, his cage takes time to set up, and you out-range everything he wants to do. Only his late-game stacking ever turns the fight into a real risk for you.
- Vladimir: Vladimir's early game is weak and you out-range everything he has, so you can bully him all lane before his sustain comes online. His pool dodges one bubble combo, nothing more.
- Aurelion Sol: His plan is a quiet lane to stack stars, and he is a slow, squishy scaler with no escape, exactly the target your long-range burst deletes. Only his black hole root threatens your approach.
- Orianna: You out-range her ball harassment, and your burst on a landed sleep goes straight through the single shield she banks. An immobile control mage who has to come to you loses the poke war.
Early Game
Laning is a patience test. Use Paddle Star to last-hit from range and chip the enemy mid whenever they step up for a minion, but do not throw the bubble at random, since missing it leaves you defenseless for the whole cooldown. The kill pattern is bubble first, then a charged star into the sleeping target, and against immobile mids you can set it up off a wall or a brush angle they cannot react to. Watch your positioning constantly: you push slowly and have no escape, which makes you a clean gank target. Ward the river and keep Portal Jump for the jungler, not for a greedy poke.
Mid Game
Once you have your first item, a clean bubble into star leaves squishy enemies dead instead of scared. This is your roaming window: shove the wave with a star or two, then look for a bubble onto a side lane or onto an enemy mid who stepped out to ward. A pick in fog is worth more than poke in lane, so drift toward objectives and let your sleep start the fight your team finishes. Mid priority matters here, because a shoved wave frees you to walk to dragon or herald, and the threat of your bubble at a contest is often enough to make the enemy back off without a fight.
Late Game
Your damage scales to the point where a single landed combo erases a carry, so the whole late game is about finding that one angle. You cannot duel anyone who reaches you, so you live on the edges of the map and at the back of every fight, fishing for a bubble through a choke or onto someone who strayed from their team. The flip side is fragility: you have less escape than almost any mid, so one caught Zoe usually means a lost fight. Position like the artillery you are, never get walked down, and treat every fully charged star as a possible pick on a backliner who thought distance kept them safe.
Teamfights
Your job is to remove one important target from a range nobody expects, so you start from the back or the flank, never the front. Land the bubble first, ideally on their carry or a key threat, then drop a charged Paddle Star into the sleep for a burst most squishies do not survive. If the angle is not there, hold it: a panicked bubble thrown into the frontline spends your whole contribution on a tank. Stay behind your peel, let the fight develop, and wait for someone to cluster or overextend, because one good sleep onto the right target can decide the fight on its own.
