Galio Support Wild Rift Guide
Who counters Galio in Wild Rift? The toughest Galio support counters are Janna, Nautilus, and Lulu. Full Galio Support counters and matchups, plus the best build, runes, and game plan for Patch 7.2c.
Overview
Galio is the support who absorbs magic damage and then engages on the people dealing it. Shield of Durand reduces the poke and burst he takes while he channels, then releases into a taunt, so every mage who spent the lane chipping him ends up taunted in the middle of your team. Add a knockup dash and an ultimate that drops him onto any ally across the map, and his threat reaches lanes he is not standing in. In the Dragon lane he starts as a brawler with a damage reduction channel, soaking the enemy duo's harass while his tornado chips them off the wave. Once his engage comes online, he decides when the brawl becomes a fight: Justice Punch onto their carry, taunt their support into your ADC, and the lane tilts on a single button. His biggest asset is the roam, since his ultimate lets him leave lane instantly and turn a mid skirmish or dragon contest into a four man collapse from across the river. The catch is that he is telegraphed and committal. His dash is a straight line everyone can see coming, his taunt wants him in melee where hook supports and peel are waiting, and a disengage enchanter can undo his whole engage with one tornado or one cleanse.
Strengths
- His damage reduction wall and taunt punish poke duos: he tanks the harass and converts it into lockdown when he chooses.
- A global ultimate makes him a roaming threat who starts fights in lanes he never walked to.
- Tanky engage with a built-in knockup, so he opens fights and survives long enough to stay a problem in them.
Weaknesses
- His engage is a straight, telegraphed dash, so mobile enemies and ready crowd control answer it before it lands.
- Disengage enchanters undo his whole plan: one tornado or speed buff cancels the commitment he already made.
- His taunt needs melee range, which is exactly where hook supports and peel want to catch him first.

Galio Support Counters
Who counters Galio Support in Wild Rift (WR)? These champions beat Galio in the support matchup, with how each one wins. Learn to play around them or ban them in ranked.
- Janna: Janna is built to undo exactly what you do: your dash commits, then her tornado and ultimate blow your team back off the engage you just spent, while her shield and speed keep her carry slippery.
- Nautilus: Every part of his kit is crowd control, so he locks you down before your combo ever resolves: one hook and he is on you while your dash sits useless.
- Lulu: Whimsy cancels both your taunt channel and your engage dash, her shields blunt your magic poke, and Wild Growth flings your commit away right as it lands.
Champions Galio Is Strong Against
Galio's best matchups in Wild Rift. Galio holds an edge against these picks in the support role, so look to press the advantage and contest objectives.
- Lux: Her whole game is landing a binding from range, and your channel absorbs the poke she relies on, while an immobile mage with no escape is exactly what your dash and taunt delete.
- Seraphine: She wants to sit at the back of the lane shielding and poking, and neither she nor her carry has a tool to peel a taunt once your dash reaches her.
- Veigar: His cage is his only way to lock you down, and your dash is fast enough to be inside or past it before it matters, leaving a stationary mage waiting to be pinned.
- Zyra: Her plants and roots are dangerous at range and useless once you are on top of her, and her squishy frame cannot survive the fight your taunt starts.
Galio Support Synergies
The best duo partners for Galio in the Wild Rift support role. The Dragon lane is a 2v2, so queue with one of these picks to make the lane and the mid game much easier.
- Miss Fortune: Your taunt holds the clump that Bullet Time mows down, and Hero's Entrance plus her ult is a fight-ending wombo on its own.
- Xayah: Your taunt and knockup clump enemies onto her feather lines for full Bladecaller roots, and Hero's Entrance covers her when she gets flanked.
- Jinx: You solve her dive problem: taunt peels assassins off her, your shield soaks the magic burst, and a safe Jinx snowballs fights with resets.
Early Game
Stand in front of your carry and channel Shield of Durand through the enemy poke, since most harass in this lane is magic damage and the channel turns their best trades into wasted mana. Drop your tornado on the enemy duo when they line up with the wave to chip them off their last hits. Your dash is your only commitment, so do not throw it as poke. Your taunt punishes anyone who steps too far forward, so let them get greedy, then convert. You do not need a kill in the opening minutes; you need the enemy support hesitating every time you start your channel.
Mid Game
Mid game your ultimate makes you relevant across the map. Any nearby skirmish is a fight you can join instantly, so watch mid and the river before objectives and look for the ult onto an ally already in trouble. Around the first dragon and herald you are the engage that decides the contest: dash in, taunt the enemy carry off the pit, and let your team punish the body you pinned. Keep the river warded so your roams leave from safety, and watch your own wave, because the strongest engage ultimate does nothing if your ADC is being dived while you fly across the map.
Late Game
Late game you are both your team's engage and its safety net. Hold the ultimate for the fight your team actually wants instead of spending it on a single pick, because landing next to four allies is worth more than chasing one runner. Your job is to open: find the angle where your dash and taunt catch their carry, or switch to peel and channel your wall between a diver and your own backline. Both halves of your kit matter now, so read which one the team needs before you commit. A Galio who flies in at the wrong second hands the enemy a free fight start.
Teamfights
Start it or stop it, and pick before bodies collide. The best case is the ult onto a clustered backline, with the taunt pulling their carry and support into your team while the knockup buys the follow-up. If you are not the one engaging, you are the wall: channel Shield of Durand to soak their burst, peel the diver off your ADC, and taunt that diver into a corner they will not leave alive. Either way the fight turns on your channel, since a team that walks into a damage reduction taunt fights on your terms. Your dash is telegraphed, so engage on a target that cannot sidestep it, not into open ground where their re-engage answers you.
