Olaf Jungle Wild Rift Guide

Who counters Olaf in Wild Rift? The toughest Olaf jungle counters are Lillia, Kindred, and Nidalee. Full Olaf Jungle counters and matchups, plus the best build, runes, and game plan for Patch 7.2c.

Overview

Olaf is a jungler who gets stronger as his health drops. He throws axes that deal physical damage and slow, then picks them up to cut the cooldown and throw again. The lower his health, the faster he attacks and the more he heals. His ultimate, Ragnarok, makes him immune to every stun, root, knockup, and taunt, so the crowd control that stops most divers does nothing to him. In the jungle his clear is fast, his ganks come online early thanks to the axe slow, and he wins most duels over scuttle and invades. He wants to play forward: clear, gank, fight for the early objectives, and snowball a lead before the enemy carries matter. The catch is that he is melee with no dash, and he needs his axes to land. Kite him, slow him while his ult is down, or refuse to fight and he runs out of targets. He also scales worse than the hypercarries and tanks he beats early, so he has to end the game while his fights are still unfair.

Strengths

  • True damage and built-in sustain let him win scuttle fights, invades, and most early 1v1s by force.
  • His ultimate ignores all crowd control, so lockdown that stops other divers cannot keep him off the backline.
  • A fast clear plus the slow on his axes give him strong ganks and early objective pressure.

Weaknesses

  • Melee with no dash, so slows and kiting shut him down once his ult is spent.
  • Scales worse than the carries and tanks he beats early, so long games work against him.
  • His threat is obvious, so teams can wait out his ult window and collapse after it ends.

Olaf Jungle Counters

Who counters Olaf Jungle in Wild Rift (WR)? These champions beat Olaf in the jungle matchup, with how each one wins. Learn to play around them or ban them in ranked.

  • Lillia: She kites you with her ramping speed and burn while clearing faster and dodging your axes around terrain, so you lose most scuttle and objective contests. In a straight chase she simply leaves and you cannot follow.
  • Kindred: Kindred slows and chips you from range for free, and her ultimate denies the low-health execute your brawling is built around. She takes scuttle and objectives at range while you chase without catching her.
  • Nidalee: Spear poke from a range you cannot answer wears you down, and in cougar form she slows you while you swing at nothing. She takes scuttle and objectives at range and kites you around every wall.

Champions Olaf Is Strong Against

Olaf's best matchups in Wild Rift. Olaf holds an edge against these picks in the jungle role, so look to press the advantage and contest objectives.

  • Nunu & Willump: A slow farmer who wants to scale and snipe objectives loses both against you: your invades deny his camps and your sustain beats his in every fight on top of the pit.
  • Wukong: Ragnarok walks straight through the knockup that is his way into and out of fights, and your true damage shreds any armor he stacks. His clone buys a second, but he has no way to escape your chase.
  • Fiddlesticks: Your ultimate turns off the fear that is his whole defense, so you walk through Crowstorm and kill the squishy channeler before his drain out-trades your axes. He has no escape and no lockdown that sticks.

Early Game

Your first clear is fast, so turn that into pressure the slow scalers cannot match. Path toward a scuttle you plan to fight over, because your axes and sustain win most early contests at the crab, and the crab puts you on level five with Ragnarok up. Once the clear is done you have a real gank: the slow on Tough It Out catches anyone who thought they could walk away from you, and you take it while the camps respawn. Invade junglers with weak clears and take their camps, and do not be afraid to turn a counter-gank around, since your low-health passive means fights that start badly often still end well. The early game is your strongest phase, so use all of it.

Mid Game

At six minutes both objectives are up, and you can solo either faster than most junglers thanks to your sustain and attack speed. Use lane priority to sneak one, or force the fight at the pit where you win the brawl, which is the right call whenever your team is ahead on early skirmishes. In an even game take Herald and trade the dragon away, since your edge shrinks the longer the game runs and a tower cashes in now. Soul is a plan for a team that fights well, not for you specifically. Between objectives, hunt the enemy jungler in their own camps, keep ganking lanes that can follow up your slow, and take every skirmish you can while your power still peaks.

Late Game

Late game you stop being the duelist and become the diver aimed at the enemy backline. Your 1v1 starts losing to scaled hypercarries and full tanks, so stop looking for fair fights in the side jungle. Baron fights suit you: your sustain lets you control the pit, and your ult makes you almost impossible to peel off the objective or off their carry once you commit. Build some durability so you survive the walk in, then trust your true damage, which ignores armor and shields once you reach the target. Group, find the flank, and use your lead to end the game before enemy scaling catches up.

Teamfights

Your job in a fight is simple: turn on Ragnarok and walk straight at the enemy carry, immune to every stun and root they use to save it. If you can, wait until their key crowd control is spent elsewhere, then cross the gap. Throw an axe to slow the target before you reach it so it cannot slip away, and let your passive speed up your attacks as your health drops. Do not burn your ult just to start the walk if a slow or an approach through fog gets you there clean; save the immunity for the moment they actually try to lock you down.
