Viktor Mid Lane Wild Rift Guide
Viktor mid lane counters include Zed, Katarina, and Fizz. See the best build, runes, matchups, and game plan for Wild Rift Patch 7.3.
How to play
- Farm safely while working toward upgrades Use your 3rd ability to hit minions and poke from range while working toward your ability upgrades.
- Use your shield for short trades Follow your first ability with its stronger attack, then move back to safety.
- Place your field where enemies must walk Place your 2nd ability in the enemy's path to slow and eventually stun them. Cast your ultimate nearby, then direct it to keep following them.
Strengths
- Death Ray (3rd) can clear the wave and damage the opponent on the same cast, creating priority when the angle reaches both.
- Scales into a teamfight monster as Hex Fragments evolve all three basic abilities and finally Arcane Storm (Ult).
- Gravity field (2nd) is real lockdown, a slow that becomes a stun, so he is not a helpless backline mage.
Weaknesses
- No mobility beyond the evolved shield's burst of speed, so any assassin who reaches him kills him if his one answer misses.
- Weak and item-dependent early, losing most all-in trades before his first big spike.
- The gravity field is his whole defensive plan; once it is dodged or on cooldown he has nothing left.

Viktor Mid Lane Counters
Who counters Viktor Mid Lane in Wild Rift (WR)? These champions beat Viktor in the mid lane matchup, with how each one wins. Learn to play around them or ban them in ranked.
- Zed: Living Shadow (2nd) lets Zed cross Death Ray's (3rd) safe spacing, and Death Mark (Ult) arrives inside the range where Gravity Field (2nd) is Viktor's only reliable self-peel. Keep Power Transfer's (1st) shield for the all-in, place Gravity Field (2nd) at Zed's reappearance point, and avoid spending Chaos Storm (Ult) before his return shadow is known.
- Katarina: Her resets and blink dodge the gravity field, your whole defense, and one good combo on you ends the trade; she also snowballs faster than you come online.
- Fizz: Fizz hops over your gravity field and goes untargetable through your laser, so he picks the trades, and his burst arrives before your spike does.
- Kassadin: Kassadin survives your early poke, and once his ultimate is up his blink ignores your gravity field while he out-scales you, so the lane is a race you slowly lose.
Champions Viktor Is Strong Against
Viktor's best matchups in Wild Rift. Viktor holds an edge against these picks in the mid lane role, so look to press the advantage and contest objectives.
- Veigar: Death Ray (3rd) clears and pokes without entering Event Horizon (3rd), so Viktor can hold priority while Veigar spends Baleful Strike (1st) on stacks. Keep Gravity Field (2nd) for anyone who follows the cage, pressure its cooldown with another laser, and turn the earlier wave clear into river movement before Veigar's scaling changes the damage race.
- Annie: Annie has to walk into stun range to do anything, and your laser punishes every step she takes toward you, while you out-range and out-scale her once your items land.
- Lux: A poke war you grind out: she has the binding, but your faster waveclear gives you priority, and your storm eventually dwarfs her one-and-done combo.
- Mel: Mel's shorter range forces her into your laser to contest the wave, and as you both scale, your sustained storm damage pulls ahead of her burst windows.
- Aurora: Aurora has to blink in and commit her whole combo, which your shield absorbs and your gravity field punishes, and her pressure peaks before your spikes do.
Early Game
Play around Hextech Ray's (3rd) line: fire it through the wave and enemy champion when their positioning allows, but secure the minion kills rather than sacrificing fragments for careless poke. Use Siphon Power's (1st) shield and empowered non-projectile attack for short trades. Save Gravity Field (2nd) for ganks or a committed melee opponent, because targets need three field stacks before the stun triggers. In an aggressive matchup, farm the first few levels and accept that your evolution arrives later than their first combat spike.
Mid Game
This is where the patience pays. Upgraded Hextech Ray (3rd) adds a delayed explosion along its path, sharply improving waveclear and zone damage; that speed is map pressure. Shove, then walk to river to help your jungler or set vision around Dragon and Herald before your team commits. In skirmishes around the pit, place Gravity Field (2nd) on a chokepoint where enemies cannot leave before its third stack, then line Hextech Ray (3rd) through the trapped group. Champion takedowns grant a large fragment burst, so successful rotations accelerate the next upgrade.
Late Game
This is the version of Viktor every other phase was building toward. Upgraded Hextech Ray (3rd) hits twice, upgraded Gravity Field (2nd) makes his other basic abilities and Arcane Storm's (Ult) initial hit slow, and upgraded Arcane Storm (Ult) grows and lasts longer when champions it damaged are taken down. The storm initially follows the nearest enemy champion automatically, but after you manually redirect it, it travels to that location rather than resuming automatic pursuit. Play as a backline control mage and use vision and positioning so the enemy never gets a clean line to you.
Teamfights
Your job is to melt the enemy from the second row and lock down their approach. Place Gravity Field (2nd) on a choke or committed group so its repeated slow stacks can reach the third-stack stun, then cast Arcane Storm (Ult) where its initial hit can also disrupt an enemy channel. Let the storm track the nearest champion when that behavior is useful; recast only when you deliberately want to redirect it, because it stops automatically following afterward. Keep Gravity Field (2nd) back if a diver is hunting you, and weave Siphon Power's (1st) empowered attack when it is safe enough to use the shield and movement-speed upgrade.
