Xin Zhao Jungle Wild Rift Guide

Who counters Xin Zhao in Wild Rift? The toughest Xin Zhao jungle counters are Rammus, Shyvana, and Amumu. Full Xin Zhao Jungle counters and matchups, plus the best build, runes, and game plan for Patch 7.2c.

Overview

Xin Zhao is an all-in diver who commits fully to one target. He dashes in on his spear, knocks the target up on his third strike, and sweeps everyone else away so he can fight one on one. His clear is fast, his early dueling is among the strongest in the jungle, and his ultimate blocks ranged damage from anyone he has not recently hit. He wins by ending the game before the scaling junglers come online. Path for an aggressive full clear, gank the moment it is done and your knockup is ready, and turn the early map into skirmishes you usually win. Scuttle is yours, the enemy jungle is open to you, and every early dragon or Rift Herald is a fight you are happy to start. His weakness is time and kiting. Almost all his power sits in the early and mid game, and full-build carries eventually out-stat him. He also has no way to reach a backline that keeps its distance, so ranged teams with good peel leave his dash with nothing to hit.

Strengths

  • One of the strongest early jungle duelists, with a knockup, a dash, and built-in sustain that win scuttle fights and invades.
  • A fast clear that lets him gank early and often.
  • His ultimate blocks ranged damage from everyone he has not engaged, making him a reliable diver into burst teams.

Weaknesses

  • Front-loaded power that fades hard once enemy carries reach full build.
  • Locked onto single targets, with no way to reach a backline that keeps its distance.
  • Ranged damage and melee crowd control kite and peel him, since his whole plan is sticking to one target.

Xin Zhao Jungle Counters

Who counters Xin Zhao Jungle in Wild Rift (WR)? These champions beat Xin Zhao in the jungle matchup, with how each one wins. Learn to play around them or ban them in ranked.

  • Rammus: Every attack you land on Defensive Ball Curl comes back at you, and his taunt locks your single-target kit onto him while your knockup does nothing to stop him.
  • Shyvana: Shyvana survives your early aggression and scales past you: your power is front-loaded and hers is back-loaded, so her dragon form eventually lives through your all-in and out-damages you.
  • Amumu: Amumu stops your one plan cold: his bandage pins you mid-engage, his ultimate locks you the moment you commit, and his percent-health aura hurts no matter what you build.

Champions Xin Zhao Is Strong Against

Xin Zhao's best matchups in Wild Rift. Xin Zhao holds an edge against these picks in the jungle role, so look to press the advantage and contest objectives.

  • Lee Sin: Lee Sin wants the same early skirmishes, but your sustain and knockup win the straight fight: you heal through his front-loaded combo and stay on him after his burst is spent.
  • Kha'Zix: Kha'Zix needs to leap in, burst, and reset out, but your knockup catches him mid-jump and your dash keeps you attached, and a squishy assassin who cannot reset loses the extended fight.
  • Wukong: Wukong relies on his clone and knockup, but your own knockup answers his, and your sustain lets you heal through his one damage rotation while your repeated hits out-pace it.

Early Game

Path for a fast full clear and reach the first scuttle ready to fight, because few junglers want to contest you there on even terms. That crab brings you to level five, and the post-clear gank is the core of the champion: dash in, knock the laner up with your third strike, and let the slow plus your sustain turn one overextension into a kill. Then clear again and go looking for the next one while the camps come back. Between ganks you can invade seriously, since you win most early duels and the threat alone pushes the enemy jungler off his own camps. Take the skirmishes you are favored in and snowball a lane, because every quiet farming minute is time handed to whoever you are letting scale.

Mid Game

Six minutes brings dragon and Herald, and you are the best fighter in the river for a while, so force both on your terms. Dash onto the first enemy who shows and start the fight with your guard up, so their ranged damage does nothing while your team collapses. Contest freely when your team is ahead. In an even game take Herald, because your lead has to convert into towers before the scalers arrive, and leave soul to teams built for the long game. Between objectives, counter-jungle the slow farmers before they come online and keep turning your tempo into gold, because this stretch decides whether the enemy's late game ever arrives.

Late Game

Be honest about your power: scaled carries now out-stat you, and charging five people alone just gets you killed. Hold your engage until their crowd control is spent, then dive the squishiest target you can reach and kill them before the peel arrives. Your ultimate still buys a clean window against ranged teams, so even a fading Xin Zhao decides who gets to stand still and attack. Stay near Baron and the late dragons as a threat. Your job now is to start the fight your team finishes, not to win it alone.

Teamfights

Pick a target, dash in, and commit, because hesitation is the main way Xin Zhao loses fights he should win. Sweep the group with your knockup to scatter their peel, raise your guard the moment you are surrounded so the backline's damage stops mattering, and put everything into one carry. You are not a frontline tank and you are not a flanker who waits all fight. You are the diver who kills their squishiest target and soaks the focus while your team cleans up. The mistake to avoid is engaging into full crowd control with nobody behind you, because a Xin Zhao who jumps in alone is a free kill.
