Gwen Jungle Wild Rift Guide
Gwen jungle counters include Lee Sin, Xin Zhao, and Kha'Zix. See the best build, runes, matchups, and game plan for Wild Rift Patch 7.3A.
How to play
- Clear toward level 5 Attack between spells, build four snip stacks, and line up the center of your 1st ability through the camp.
- Gank behind allied control Approach a pushed lane with a teammate who can slow or lock down the target. Your ultimate supplies a slow once unlocked.
- Place the mist between threats Fight a nearby enemy inside your 2nd ability while keeping ranged damage dealers outside it.
Strengths
- Health-based magic damage and the center of Snip Snip! (1st) threaten durable frontlines.
- Hallowed Mist (2nd) can deny outside interference while Gwen fights a reachable target.
- Strong sustained damage converts won fights into camps and major objectives.
Weaknesses
- Early invaders can punish her before items, especially when nearby lanes cannot move.
- No stun or root, so mobile enemies often escape unsupported ganks.
- Enemies inside the mist can still target her, and she is vulnerable when it ends.

Gwen Jungle Counters
Who counters Gwen Jungle in Wild Rift (WR)? These champions beat Gwen in the jungle matchup, with how each one wins. Learn to play around them or ban them in ranked.
- Lee Sin: Lee Sin can invade before Gwen's item spike and use his mobility to leave before her sustained damage builds. Ward your second quadrant and path toward allied priority; save your dash for his skillshot or retreat rather than spending it on an unsupported chase.
- Xin Zhao: Xin Zhao's early attacks, knockup, and gap closer let him fight inside the mist before Gwen has enough sustain. Give up an unsupported Scuttle and punish his committed ganks by farming the opposite side until your items let you contest.
- Kha'Zix: An isolated Gwen can lose much of her health to Kha'Zix before Conqueror and Riftmaker become effective. Avoid entering dark river alone and keep a teammate close when clearing vision, then counterattack after he spends his jump.
- Tryndamere: Tryndamere can spin into the mist and continue attacking during Undying Rage (Ult), denying Gwen's finishing damage. Save your dash and needle slows to create distance through that window instead of standing still and racing his attacks.
- Jax: Counter Strike (3rd) denies Gwen's attacks and delays the stacks she wants before snipping, while Jax can leap inside her mist. Keep your dash for the stun timing and use spell damage while he is dodging, then disengage if his next rotation is ready first.
Champions Gwen Is Strong Against
Gwen's best matchups in Wild Rift. Gwen holds an edge against these picks in the jungle role, so look to press the advantage and contest objectives.
- Dr. Mundo: A Thousand Cuts (Passive) and centered Snip Snip! (1st) punish Mundo's large health pool, while the mist can deny cleavers thrown from outside. Fight once your core items are ready and buy anti-heal if his ultimate is sustaining him through your damage.
- Cho'Gath: Cho'Gath's growing health gives Gwen a durable target for repeated passive damage, and his delayed knockup can be sidestepped with her dash. Save movement for Rupture (1st), then keep attacking while respecting the health at which Feast (Ult) can finish you.
- Rammus: Much of Gwen's damage is magic, so Rammus's armor alone cannot shut down her sustained output. Wait out his defensive stance when possible and keep the mist between you and his teammates rather than attacking through a supported taunt.
- Amumu: Amumu has to come close to keep dealing damage, which gives Gwen time to stack snips against his health. Avoid standing beside your whole team for his ultimate, then re-enter after the stun while your mist limits outside follow-up.
- Nunu & Willump: Nunu's tank build gives Gwen time and health to cut through in an extended duel. Dodge his rolling engage and leave the area of his channeled ultimate; win space before an objective instead of challenging his bite and Smite at low monster health.
Early Game
Start Skip 'n Slash (3rd), take Snip Snip! (1st) next, and learn Hallowed Mist (2nd) before a contested river or gank. Max the 1st ability, then the 3rd, then the 2nd; rank the ultimate whenever available. A practical full clear is Red Brambleback, Krugs, Raptors, Wolves, Blue Sentinel, then Gromp. Reverse the route when starting on the other side better protects your camps or finishes near an allied setup lane. Keep attacks going between casts and aim the center of a stacked Snip Snip! (1st) through the large monster. Check nearby lanes before taking Scuttle; give it up when an early duelist arrives with priority. Recall for Dusk and Dawn components and boots instead of chasing a low-probability gank with your camps respawning.
Mid Game
With Dusk and Dawn and Needlework (Ult), look for a lane where allied control gives your first attacks time to connect. Slow the target, keep attacking, and use Skip 'n Slash (3rd) after their movement spell when possible. Clear toward the next objective, reset for Riftmaker components, and enter river with allies before starting the monster. If the enemy jungler shows across the map, take a safe camp or objective only after checking missing laners.
Late Game
Before Baron or Elder, clear nearby camps and arrive with Hallowed Mist (2nd) and Smite available. Avoid taking a distant side wave when your team may need its jungler at the pit. Hit the frontline from a mist position that excludes enemy ranged carries, then move forward after their control is spent. Leave the pit if a collapse would force you into stasis before the secure window.
Teamfights
Start on a target your team can reach, build snip stacks with attacks, and use Needlework (Ult) to keep enemies in range. Save Hallowed Mist (2nd) for incoming outside damage rather than placing it before anyone commits. Hold Skip 'n Slash (3rd) to follow a retreat or dodge an important spell. When the mist expires, step back or use stasis while allies cover the next rotation.
