Jayce Baron Lane Wild Rift Guide
Who counters Jayce in Wild Rift? The toughest Jayce Baron lane counters are Renekton, Wukong, and Malphite. Full Jayce Baron Lane counters and matchups, plus the best build, runes, and game plan for Patch 7.2c.
Overview
Jayce brings a ranged laning phase to a lane full of melee fighters, and that is the whole pitch. In cannon form he fires Shock Blasts through his Acceleration Gate from huge range, punishing every last hit the enemy dares to take. In hammer form he becomes a burst bruiser with a knockback for anyone who closes the distance. His power arrives at level one and never waits for an ultimate, because his stance swap is the ultimate. In most melee matchups the plan is simple: chunk them at range until they cannot contest, then zone them off the wave or swap to hammer and finish the kill. The catch is that Jayce is a lane bully on a timer. He is squishy, his damage flattens out as enemies itemize, and he offers less in teamfights. If he does not turn his lane into towers and a gold lead, he spends the late game as a poke threat behind his real carries.
Strengths
- Oppressive ranged poke in a melee lane: most matchups cannot safely farm against him.
- Strong from level one with no ult dependency, so the bullying starts immediately.
- Flexible answers: gate-boosted poke at range, knockback and burst when divers arrive.
Weaknesses
- Squishy with no real escape, so anyone who reaches him tends to keep him.
- Falls off late and contributes little to teamfights beyond poke.
- Skillshot and mana dependent: missed Shock Blasts waste mana and give the enemy free time on the wave.

Jayce Baron Lane Counters
Who counters Jayce Baron Lane in Wild Rift (WR)? These champions beat Jayce in the Baron lane matchup, with how each one wins. Learn to play around them or ban them in ranked.
- Renekton: That dash covers exactly the gap you thought was safe, and his stun ends your kiting on the spot, so one mistake per wave can decide the lane.
- Wukong: The clone baits out your Shock Blast, then the real one kills you: his dive often ignores your knockback and his burst beats yours in any close exchange.
- Malphite: Armor and his shield blunt the Shock Blasts you live on, and his ultimate closes the distance from a range your spacing cannot answer. Once his ult is online, your spacing no longer protects you.
- Sion: Sion's charged Q reaches across your poke range, his shield and health pool soak the blasts, and his ult engages from a screen away. One landed Q is usually one dead Jayce.
Champions Jayce Is Strong Against
Jayce's best matchups in Wild Rift. Jayce holds an edge against these picks in the Baron lane role, so look to press the advantage and contest objectives.
- Darius: He has no way to reach you, so every last hit costs him health, and his only kill condition is the one time he flashes onto you.
- Mordekaiser: His passive needs three hits and you live at a range where he gets zero, so you chunk him freely. Only the level 5 death realm duel is dangerous.
- Camille: She has to walk through constant Shock Blasts to touch you, and your knockback throws her one gap closer right back out. If she cannot start the fight on her terms, she cannot start it at all.
- Teemo: Your boosted Shock Blast out-ranges his darts, and his blind only affects autos you barely use, so you win the poke war against a champion with very little health.
Early Game
This is what your champion was built for. Start in cannon, drop the gate, and fire Shock Blasts through it at anyone touching the wave; the boosted version out-ranges everything they have. Discipline matters more than aggression: poke what you can hit, save mana otherwise, and keep the hammer knockback ready for ganks and divers. The goal is an enemy laner who recalls twice before their first item and stops contesting farm.
Mid Game
No ult spike is coming, so mid game is about spending the lead you built. Take the tower your poke earned, then move the gate-and-blast routine to the river: a Shock Blast from fog onto a squishy starts fights your team finishes. Watch your own flanks while you do it, because every diver on their team wants you dead first. Poke first, and swap to hammer only to finish or peel.
Late Game
Your lane-bully phase is over, so your job now is long-range poke. Sit at max range, fire blasts through gates to zone the enemy off Baron and dragon pits, and treat hammer form as a panic button, not a plan. The space your poke creates before a fight is your real contribution. The moment a scaled diver touches you, you stop contributing, so position like you know it.
Teamfights
Soften, zone, survive. Before the fight, your boosted Shock Blasts chunk the enemy frontline, and a well-placed gate controls where the fight can happen. In the fight, stay cannon, stay far, and swap to hammer only when something jumps you: knock it back, walk away, keep firing. Jayce wins teamfights before they start by chunking the enemy to half health on the way in.
