Pyke Support Wild Rift Guide

Who counters Pyke in Wild Rift? The toughest Pyke support counters are Zilean, Morgana, and Rakan. Full Pyke Support counters and matchups, plus the best build, runes, and game plan for Patch 7.2c.

Overview

Pyke is a support built to make kills and gold instead of protection. His ultimate executes low targets and pays gold to a nearby ally on top of his own, so the gold from his picks goes straight to his carry. He converts bonus max health into attack damage instead of a bigger health bar, so he scales like an assassin from the support slot and can spend his own lead. In the 2v2 he is a hook lane with assassin damage behind it. The harpoon pulls and slows a target, stealth-and-heal lets him reset out of bad spots, and the dash-stun turns a caught enemy into a kill setup for your ADC. You do not win by trading with their support. You win by landing the hook, committing with your carry, and turning one mistake into a kill. The trade-off is that he keeps an assassin's tiny health bar. Hard crowd control kills him before the stealth saves him, and any support tanky enough to walk through his combo and live beats him. He also has to commit to make anything happen, and a whiffed hook means a long, exposed walk back to lane.

Strengths

  • His ultimate executes and shares gold, so every pick funds his ADC instead of starving the team's economy.
  • Elite roam and pick threat: stealth, a slow-hook, and a stun reposition let him open fights nobody saw coming.
  • Scales like an assassin from the support slot, since his kit turns max health into damage and rewards snowballing.

Weaknesses

  • Very fragile: hard crowd control or any beefy engage that survives his combo simply kills him first.
  • All-in or nothing: a missed hook or botched dive leaves him stranded with empty cooldowns and a long walk home.
  • Falls off when picks dry up, since an enemy duo that never overextends gives him nothing to convert.

Pyke Support Counters

Who counters Pyke Support in Wild Rift (WR)? These champions beat Pyke in the support matchup, with how each one wins. Learn to play around them or ban them in ranked.

  • Zilean: His speed-ups and bombs let him kite your engages and peel your picks. Play patient and roam for side picks.
  • Morgana: Black Shield eats your hook crowd control and her bind can catch you mid-dive. Look for picks away from her ADC.
  • Rakan: Mobile disengage that denies your picks and peels his carry. Wait out his dashes and punish the cooldown.
  • Lulu: Her shields and polymorph shut down your all-in. Bring Serpent's Fang and pick isolated targets instead.
  • Janna: Her shield, slow, and knock-up disengage everything you start. Be patient and look for roams over lane all-ins.

Champions Pyke Is Strong Against

Pyke's best matchups in Wild Rift. Pyke holds an edge against these picks in the support role, so look to press the advantage and contest objectives.

  • Seraphine: Immobile and squishy, and her shields and heals cannot stop your execute. Hook her when she steps up to poke and finish her before her scaling comes online.
  • Sona: No mobility and paper-thin. Threaten her constantly from the fog and one hook ends her.
  • Senna: Slow and squishy early. Punish her walk-ups for souls with hooks and all-ins before she scales.
  • Yuumi: When she is unattached she is a free hook target. Pressure the lane so she cannot detach safely, then collapse.
  • Lux: Squishy and immobile. Bait her shield or binding, then hook and all-in from a fog angle she cannot see.

Pyke Support Synergies

The best duo partners for Pyke in the Wild Rift support role. The Dragon lane is a 2v2, so queue with one of these picks to make the lane and the mid game much easier.

  • Draven: Two snowball engines in one lane: your hooks feed his axes, and Death from Below pays both of you for every cleanup.
  • Samira: You both want the messy all-in: hook starts it, she styles through it, and your execute resets chain into her Inferno Trigger cleanup.
  • Lucian: His early burst converts your hooks into kills without overcommitting, and your roams suit a carry confident enough to hold the lane alone.

Early Game

Play aggressively in lane if the matchup allows it, since small early leads make the game far easier later on. Look for short trades, quick bursts, and chances to push tempo. Stand where the enemy ADC feels uncomfortable walking up to last hit, especially if you can control the side brush, and when they step forward for a predictable last-hit animation, punish with a hook or a stun into a hook. The biggest early-game concept that separates good Pyke players from average ones is wave timing into roams. Pyke wins games by leaving lane, but you cannot roam randomly or you abandon your ADC into a doomed 1v2. The best time to roam is when you and your ADC have pushed a wave into the enemy turret, forcing their bot lane to last hit under tower and giving your ADC a window to reset or farm safely. On your first few backs, do not immediately run to lane; look for a mid-lane roam or a play with your jungler on an invade. A single successful roam can set your team ahead and establish your map presence early.

Mid Game

This is where Pyke thrives. Maximize your Ghostwater Dive to stay camouflaged and unpredictable while moving through vision. Always control the tempo: roam, collapse, and create man-advantage plays around objectives. Hunt isolated targets, sloppy rotations, and squishy champions moving through the fog of war without proper vision. Pyke is extremely weak when playing from behind, so snowball with his strong early and mid game.

Teamfights

You do not always need to start the fight, but if you see the opportunity, look for hooks or stuns. Wait for key enemy cooldowns, then dive in for the execution. Your ultimate can instantly wipe out the entire enemy team, so be patient and look to chain execution resets. Keep in mind that you are an assassin, not a frontline tank: isolate targets with your hook or an AOE stun and then immediately get out. Your ultimate is also a repositioning tool, not just an execute.
