Zilean Support Wild Rift Guide

Zilean support counters include Thresh, Milio, and Karma. See the best build, runes, matchups, and game plan for Wild Rift Patch 7.3.

How to play

  • Land two bombs on the same target Your 1st ability stores two bomb charges. Land both on the same target to stun nearby enemies, ideally after slowing the target with your 3rd ability.
  • Keep your speed and shield for danger Your 2nd ability shields and speeds up an ally, while your 3rd ability creates a slowing field. Use them to help your teammate escape an approaching enemy.
  • Use your revive just before lethal damage Your ultimate revives an ally if they die while it is active. Cast it on the teammate being focused just before the lethal hit.

Strengths

  • His double bomb is both poke and a wide area stun, zoning the enemy duo and punishing anyone who clumps to engage.
  • Chronoshift (Ult) revives your carry, turning losing all-ins into even trades and wasting any support built around one burst window.
  • Twisted Timeflow (2nd) gives the duo constant tempo: a shield and speed on both of you, plus sharply reduced cooldowns so the next stun and the next Mirage (3rd) come back fast.

Weaknesses

  • Extremely squishy and slow, so one hook or hard engage that lands before his bombs arm usually kills him.
  • His protection is reactive and telegraphed, and a baited ultimate or dodged stun leaves him with nothing for a long stretch.
  • No hard lockdown beyond the bomb stun, so mobile engage that sidesteps it leaves him unable to start anything.

Zilean Support Counters

Who counters Zilean Support in Wild Rift (WR)? These champions beat Zilean in the support matchup, with how each one wins. Learn to play around them or ban them in ranked.

  • Thresh: Thresh's hook, lantern, and flay (3rd) are all aimed at the slowest support in the lane, which is you. One landed grab pulls you out of position before your bombs or ultimate can answer.
  • Milio: Milio answers your whole kit: his ultimate cleanses the double-bomb stun, his range matches your poke with less mana strain, and his heals mean nobody dips low enough to need your revive.
  • Karma: Her poke comes out faster than your bomb cooldowns, her shield absorbs the chunk you stack two spells to land, and her speed boosts carry the whole duo out of your stun.
  • Soraka: Every bomb you land gets healed back, and her silence zone lands on the exact spot you cast from. Your revive is a one-time swing while her healing is constant, and constant wins lanes.

Champions Zilean Is Strong Against

Zilean's best matchups in Wild Rift. Zilean holds an edge against these picks in the support role, so look to press the advantage and contest objectives.

  • Blitzcrank: One hook ends you, but his single telegraphed engage walks straight into your stun, your poke punishes him for stepping up at all, and Chronoshift (Ult) undoes the one pick his whole kit exists to land.
  • Veigar: Veigar is the most immobile thing in the lane, so your shared speed burst sidesteps his cage while your bombs out-range his setup. Even a landed combo on your carry gets undone by your ultimate.
  • Leona: Leona's lane is one long commitment and your kit punishes commitment: the slow makes her engage arrive late, the stun catches her landing, and Chronoshift (Ult) revives whoever she spent everything to kill.
  • Braum: Unbreakable (3rd) can intercept a thrown Time Bomb (1st), so aim around Braum or attach the bomb to an ally or minion before it reaches his shield. Chronoshift (Ult) still punishes the single target his team commits to killing.
  • Senna: Every soul she wants is a walk into bomb range, so your poke punishes the collection all lane long. Her slow attrition plan also collapses against an ultimate that undoes the one kill she works toward.

Zilean Support Synergies

The best duo partners for Zilean in the Wild Rift support role. The Dragon lane is a 2v2, so queue with one of these picks to make the lane and the mid game much easier.

  • Ashe: Twisted Timeflow (2nd) increases Ashe's movement and projectile speed, making her arrows harder to sidestep, while Chronoshift (Ult) lets her take aggressive firing positions. Her slows also make your double bomb easier to attach.
  • Sivir: Double speed ults create the fastest engage-disengage loop in the game, and your revive turns her teamfight utility into two fights of value.
  • Zeri: Twisted Timeflow (2nd) adds movement and projectile speed while Zeri is trying to maintain Lightning Crash's (Ult) Overcharge, and Chronoshift (Ult) underwrites the aggressive wall rides her kit wants to take.

Early Game

Lead with a single bomb on the enemy carry when they step up to farm, and attach the second to the same unit when you want the immediate area stun. Twisted Timeflow (2nd) accelerates your two bomb charges and other basic cooldowns while its buff remains, so use that window to cycle another rotation. Save Temporal Mirage (3rd) for the gank or enemy-champion projectile you see coming. When Time in a Bottle (Passive) has enough experience stored to level an ally, share it from safety; champion damage interrupts the channel for one second. Hold river vision early, because every jungle path that reaches you is one you cannot run from.

Mid Game

Chronoshift (Ult) changes how your carry plays now. With it up, your ADC can step into fights and contest objectives knowing one death gets undone, so plan the aggressive timings together instead of waiting them out. Around dragon and herald, your bomb stun is the setup that lets your team collapse, and Twisted Timeflow (2nd) gets your duo to the pit first or out of a bad one. Bomb the chokes the enemy has to walk through, and watch for the roam: your stun landing on an enemy mid or jungler in the river starts a pick before they know the fight began. Shove the wave before you wander, since you have nothing to defend the lane with once you leave.

Late Game

Before Baron or Elder, stay near the ally most likely to be engaged and avoid checking vision alone. Hold Chronoshift (Ult) until the enemy commits enough damage to threaten a kill, but cast before control prevents you from responding. Use Twisted Timeflow (2nd) and Mirage (3rd) to move the carry away from the first threat, then place the double bomb where pursuers must cross. If the enemy refuses to dive, use the speed to help your frontline enter or leave instead of forcing a risky walk-up.

Teamfights

Your job runs in two layers: stun the engage, then cover the carry. Read who steps in first and drop the double bomb on the clump so the stun catches more than one body. Put Chronoshift (Ult) on your ADC before the fight, not after they are already dead, since it is far stronger cast early than as a panic reaction. Spend Twisted Timeflow (2nd) to pull your carry out of a flank or to chase down the runner once your team commits, and lay Temporal Mirage (3rd) between your backline and whatever is walking at it. Beyond the stun, the shield, and that field you have no hard peel and no real escape, so stay behind your frontline and treat every cooldown as your carry's lifeline rather than your own.
