Leona Support Wild Rift Guide
Who counters Leona in Wild Rift? The toughest Leona support counters are Janna, Milio, and Braum. Full Leona Support counters and matchups, plus the best build, runes, and game plan for Patch 7.2c.
Overview
Leona is the most straightforward hard engage support in the role. Her kit is built around reaching one enemy and holding them: a point and click stun on her next attack, a short damage reduction window for diving, a blade dash that roots and pulls her onto a target, and an ultimate that stuns a whole group. That is more lockdown than most champions land in an entire fight. In the Dragon lane she is the engage. You are not there to poke or heal; you pick a moment, chain your crowd control onto the enemy carry, and hold them still while your ADC deletes them. She pairs best with carries who punish a stunned target instantly, like Jinx or Kai'Sa, and her warding is roam-focused: watch the river and turn your dive range into picks across the map. Her flaw is her strength: once she commits, she is all in. No escape, no disengage, no poke to fall back on. If her target gets peeled away or cleansed, she is a melee tank stuck in the enemy backline with every cooldown spent.
Strengths
- The most reliable hard engage in the lane: once her dash connects, her stuns and roots have no skillshot left to dodge.
- Built-in damage reduction lets her dive the enemy backline tankier than her health bar suggests.
- Constant roam and pick threat, since her lockdown turns any caught enemy into a free kill for her team.
Weaknesses
- Fully committal: once she dives she has no escape, so a missed or peeled engage strands her in a terrible spot.
- No poke and no sustain, so a lane that refuses to fight leaves her with little to do.
- Hard disengage and cleanse ruin her plan, since a knockback or a cleansed stun wastes her whole all-in.

Leona Support Counters
Who counters Leona Support in Wild Rift (WR)? These champions beat Leona in the support matchup, with how each one wins. Learn to play around them or ban them in ranked.
- Janna: Her tornado interrupts your dash and her ultimate blows your whole team off her carry mid-engage, so every commitment gets peeled straight back out.
- Milio: His ultimate cleanses the lockdown you spent everything to land, so a perfect engage turns into a target who simply walks away.
- Braum: His shield blocks your engage and his passive stun wins the brawl after it, so he soaks your whole chain on his own body and his team punishes a Leona with no cooldowns left.
- Thresh: The lantern pulls your pinned target out of the kill before your ADC finishes, and his hook plus flay out-trade your walk-in while he is tanky enough to survive your chain.
- Morgana: Black Shield counters your entire kit: every stun, snare, and Solar Flare is crowd control, and one button makes her carry immune to all of it, leaving you standing in the open.
Champions Leona Is Strong Against
Leona's best matchups in Wild Rift. Leona holds an edge against these picks in the support role, so look to press the advantage and contest objectives.
- Seraphine: Seraphine is an immobile enchanter with only one button that can interrupt your dive, and once you get past it she has no way to stop the lockdown or escape it.
- Lulu: Her polymorph interrupts one piece of your chain, but she has nothing after it, and she can only peel one target while your duo threatens two.
- Sona: Sona has no disengage and very little health, so once her ultimate is down she is the easiest kill in the lane.
- Yuumi: Detached she is a free pick, and attached her host becomes the stationary target your chain wants, so either way your engage finds a kill.
- Nautilus: The engage mirror goes your way up close: your resists and Sunlight burst out-brawl his slower chain, and his hook needs a clear path while your Zenith Blade threatens whenever he plants his feet.
Leona Support Synergies
The best duo partners for Leona in the Wild Rift support role. The Dragon lane is a 2v2, so queue with one of these picks to make the lane and the mid game much easier.
- Miss Fortune: The classic kill lane: your full lockdown holds both enemies for Bullet Time, and her Double Up harass means your engages land on half-health targets.
- Draven: Your engage hands him free axe uptime on stunned targets, and his absurd early damage means every lockdown you land is a kill and a bounty.
- Tristana: She follows your all-in with a jump, a bomb, and a reset, and dives with you the moment Zenith Blade commits. The lane that ends at first blood.
Early Game
Play the early lane as a constant engage threat, not a poke support. You have no ranged tools, so your job is setting up the one engage that matters: wait for the enemy carry to step past their support or greed a last hit, then dash in, stun, and let your ADC follow. Level your engage tools first and watch the enemy support, since their peel is the only thing between you and a kill. Ward the bushes and river entrance early: a Leona who knows where the jungler is can dive freely, while a blind one walks into the gank herself.
Mid Game
Mid game your engage threat covers the map. Solar Flare starts fights from outside their vision, so roam mid or pinch the river before objectives and look for a stun onto anyone out of position. Around dragon and herald you decide when the fight starts: engage the enemy carry or their support and let your team collapse on the pinned target. Keep warding the pit approaches so your dive lands on your terms, and remember that turning lane priority into a pick is worth more than another minion.
Late Game
Late game you start every fight, so picking the moment is the whole skill. Hold your engage until your team is ready to follow, then dive the target that matters and chain everything onto them. Your damage reduction window lets you reach a backline that would kill a squishier engage, so flank wide, find the carry, and lock them out of the fight. The danger is impatience: a Leona who engages alone hands the enemy a free fight, so wait for the collapse and make the dive count.
Teamfights
Your fight is one decision made well: who to stun and when. Open onto the enemy carry or whatever threat your team can kill right away, chain your stun into your root into your ultimate so the target never gets a window, and trust your damage reduction to survive the focus that follows. You are not a peeler, so do not sit on your kit trying to protect your ADC; your protection is killing the threat first. Land the engage, hold the target still, and let your team finish the fight you started.
