Morgana Support Wild Rift Guide
Who counters Morgana in Wild Rift? The toughest Morgana support counters are Zyra, Soraka, and Senna. Full Morgana Support counters and matchups, plus the best build, runes, and game plan for Patch 7.2c.
Overview
Morgana is a support who decides which enemy abilities get to work. Black Shield is the core of her kit: a bubble on your carry that blocks the next stun, hook, root, or charm and absorbs magic damage on top. Engage supports build their whole lane around one big commit, and Morgana can make it never happen. Her own offense is poke and picks. Tormented Shadow clears waves and chips anyone standing in it, and Dark Binding is a long-range snare that holds a target long enough for your marksman to secure the kill. Soul Shackles tethers nearby enemies and stuns them if they cannot break the leash, which turns her into a second engage when the fight clumps up. The catch is that she is slow with no escape. The bind is her whole pick threat and it can be dodged, so a miss leaves her with just poke and a shield. Mobile supports walk away from the root and the tether, and dive comps and assassins line up against her squishy frame.
Strengths
- Black Shield blocks the enemy's key crowd control and magic poke, which shuts down most hook and engage supports.
- A landed bind into her shackle stun holds a target long enough for any decent ADC to finish the kill.
- Tormented Shadow gives her real poke and waveclear, punishing melee supports who have to walk through it to reach her.
Weaknesses
- Immobile with no escape, so a missed bind leaves her a slow body for junglers and divers to punish.
- Her whole pick threat is one dodgeable skillshot, and a missed Dark Binding leaves her with only poke.
- Mobile supports and disengage dodge the bind and break the tether, wasting her engage tools.

Morgana Support Counters
Who counters Morgana Support in Wild Rift (WR)? These champions beat Morgana in the support matchup, with how each one wins. Learn to play around them or ban them in ranked.
- Zyra: Zyra throws more threats than you can answer: constant plant poke, a root that trades evenly with your binding, and Black Shield blocks only one spell out of a rotation that never stops.
- Soraka: Her healing refunds every trade you win, and her silence lands on your cast animations, cutting off the binding and shield in the exact fights you saved them for.
- Senna: Senna pokes from beyond your binding range and scales off every soul the lane gives her, while your shield blocks crowd control she barely uses.
- Milio: His ultimate cleanses the binding your whole game is built to land, his poke matches yours with sustain attached, and his range buff keeps his carry outside your root line.
- Nami: Her trade pattern beats yours: she heals back the poke she loses while your chip stays lost, and her Tidecaller damage stacks up while your shield waits for crowd control worth blocking.
Champions Morgana Is Strong Against
Morgana's best matchups in Wild Rift. Morgana holds an edge against these picks in the support role, so look to press the advantage and contest objectives.
- Leona: Her entire all-in is a chain of crowd control, and Black Shield blocks the opener, leaving a committed tank standing in your lane with nothing to show for it.
- Nautilus: Everything in his kit is crowd control your shield blocks for free, and once his engage bounces off the bubble he is a slow body you bind and burst.
- Rakan: One charm carries his whole engage, and Black Shield blocks it, while his dash-in has a return timer that a binding on the landing spot turns into a root.
- Alistar: His plan is crowd control delivered at melee range, and Black Shield blocks it, while his short engage range means he has to walk into your binding to do anything.
- Braum: Black Shield deletes the Concussive Blows stun his trades build toward, so he cannot peel your picks, and his defensive kit loses the poke war yours forces.
Morgana Support Synergies
The best duo partners for Morgana in the Wild Rift support role. The Dragon lane is a 2v2, so queue with one of these picks to make the lane and the mid game much easier.
- Caitlyn: Dark Binding into a trap is the oldest guaranteed root chain in the book, and Black Shield blanks the engage supports who want to jump her.
- Jhin: Your binding feeds his root and his fourth shot finishes the exchange. Black Shield also covers the immobile windows his reload creates.
- Draven: Black Shield protects the axe-juggling machine from the CC that ruins his rhythm, and a bound target eats axes until it dies.
Early Game
Lane as the threat behind the wave, not the brawler in front of it. Tormented Shadow keeps the enemy duo off the minions, chips them while they farm, and lets your ADC trade for free. Hold Dark Binding instead of throwing it at the wave. A bind on the enemy support stepping up to ward or poke is a kill window for your carry, and an empty cooldown is an opening for their jungler, since you cannot run. The real skill is the Black Shield call: pre-shield your ADC if their support is setting up an engage, or save it for the obvious all-in. A shield wasted on poke leaves your carry exposed when the real commit comes.
Mid Game
This is when your shield becomes the enemy team's whole problem. A pre-emptive Black Shield on your carry turns their dragon or herald engage into nothing, so ward the pit early and bubble the moment their tank steps toward the fight. Your bind is a pick tool now. Shove the wave with your poke, then look for a snare onto a mid laner or jungler walking the river without vision, since one root from fog gives your team the numbers before the objective starts. Roaming is fine, but you are slow and easy to catch, so leave only when your wave is shoved and the angle is real. You start fights with the bind and save them with a shield that lands just before their crowd control does.
Late Game
Late game you have two decisions that swing teamfights, and the question is who gets each one. Black Shield goes on whichever ally the enemy wants to lock down, the hypercarry their picks aim at or the frontline their engage wants to chain, and one well-timed bubble can block the ability their whole team is built around. Your bind either starts the pick or peels the diver off your backline, so stand on the flank or just behind your frontline, where the snare is a threat their squishies have to respect. Soul Shackles is your second engage when their team clusters, but diving into the middle on a slow champion gets you killed before the leash pops. Commit it with your team on top of you, not ahead of them.
Teamfights
Your job is to cancel their game plan and start yours. The key play is reading the enemy's crowd control and dropping Black Shield on the target a half-second before it lands, which wastes the engage their whole fight was built on. Open with a bind onto a high-value target if the angle is clean, then let your team fall on the rooted body. Soul Shackles turns fights when bodies clump: tether into the cluster, hold the leash, and the stun hits everyone who could not escape. Spend it where your frontline can protect you, because a dead Morgana means a backline with no shield and no peel. The best fights end with their engage wasted on a bubble and your carry never touched by their crowd control.
