Volibear Jungle Wild Rift Guide
Volibear jungle counters include Lillia, Kindred, and Gwen. See the best build, runes, matchups, and game plan for Wild Rift Patch 7.3A.
How to play
- Set the lightning where you will fight Your 3rd ability is delayed, so place it ahead of the enemy and enter the area for the shield.
- Stay close for the second bite Use your 2nd ability on a reachable enemy, then cast it again on that target within its mark window for the empowered heal.
- Dive with a wave and an exit Your ultimate temporarily disables nearby enemy turrets, but you still need allied damage and a safe route out.
Strengths
- A stun, delayed shield, and empowered second bite give him several tools for close skirmishes.
- Stormbringer (Ult) opens coordinated dive opportunities after level 5.
- Hybrid damage and a durable build let him threaten targets while absorbing a response.
Weaknesses
- Kiting can deny both the opening stun and the healing from a second bite.
- Predictable approaches are vulnerable to slows, disengage, and enemy counter-ganks.
- A deep ultimate can strand him beyond allied damage and protection.

Volibear Jungle Counters
Who counters Volibear Jungle in Wild Rift (WR)? These champions beat Volibear in the jungle matchup, with how each one wins. Learn to play around them or ban them in ranked.
- Lillia: Lillia can keep dealing spell damage while moving outside Volibear's stun and second-bite range. Use a lane flank or allied control to establish contact, and avoid chasing through open river after she has built movement speed.
- Kindred: Kindred's ranged attacks and repeated hops can deny Volibear the second bite he needs to sustain. Approach through vision-controlled terrain and hold your ultimate for their movement, then respect their death-prevention zone instead of spending every cooldown inside it.
- Gwen: Gwen's sustained health-based damage becomes dangerous as Volibear buys durability, and her dash can avoid the delayed lightning. Contest early only with lane support, then use your stun for allied focus after her mist expires rather than taking a long isolated duel.
- Jax: Counter Strike (3rd) dodges the empowered attack carrying Volibear's stun as well as his normal attacks. Use spell damage while Jax is dodging, hold the stun until the stance ends, and disengage if his item lead lets him outlast your second bite.
- Olaf: Olaf's ultimate removes the control Volibear uses to hold a target in his lightning and can let Olaf keep attacking through the engage. Preserve your shield and an escape route, then return with teammates after his control immunity ends.
Champions Volibear Is Strong Against
Volibear's best matchups in Wild Rift. Volibear holds an edge against these picks in the jungle role, so look to press the advantage and contest objectives.
- Master Yi: Volibear can pressure Master Yi before his item spikes and hold him for allied damage with an attack stun. Wait until Yi returns from his untargetable strike before committing the stun, then keep the fight inside your lightning shield and second-bite range.
- Xin Zhao: Xin Zhao's commitment into melee gives Volibear a target for the lightning zone and repeated bites. Place the shield before his knockup sequence and stay on the marked target, but avoid extending when Xin's nearby laners can arrive first.
- Wukong: Volibear can absorb Wukong's initial burst and recover during a longer fight if he keeps the real champion in bite range. Track the clone before spending your stun or empowered bite, and avoid grouping tightly for the returning knockup.
- Rengar: Rengar's leap brings him into Volibear's shield and bite range, which favors a prepared counter-gank. Fight away from repeated brush leaps when possible and save another control window for after Rengar uses his empowered defensive ability.
- Tryndamere: Volibear's shield, stun, and second bite can win early exchanges before Tryndamere has enough damage to stay on him. When Undying Rage (Ult) begins, use the stun and lightning slow to waste its duration instead of racing to finish an unkillable target.
Early Game
Start Frenzied Maul (2nd) on a buff, take Sky Splitter (3rd) at level 2, and Thundering Smash (1st) at level 3. Max the 2nd ability, then the 1st, then the 3rd; rank the ultimate whenever available. Use repeated attacks to keep The Relentless Storm (Passive) active and stand inside your lightning when it lands. Finish the nearby camps, then inspect the lane before deciding between a level-3 gank and continuing the clear. Approach from behind the enemy when safe, place Sky Splitter (3rd) on their retreat path, and connect the stun near its impact. Bite a target you can remain beside for the empowered recast. If the lane is protected by a large enemy wave or your ally cannot follow, clear toward the other quadrant instead of waiting in a warded brush.
Mid Game
With your first item and Stormbringer (Ult), look for a dive where your laner has a wave and the enemy jungler is accounted for. Ping the approach, hold the ultimate until the landing cuts off the escape, and leave before the turret resumes firing. Reset afterward and clear toward the next objective. At the pit, place Sky Splitter (3rd) where enemies must enter and keep Smite available instead of chasing a fleeing target away from the monster.
Late Game
Before Baron or Elder, decide whether the team needs an engage or protection for its carry. Buy defenses against the champions actually dealing damage and arrive with your shield and ultimate ready. If the enemy backline is covered, stun the nearest diver and fight beside your team. Use Stormbringer (Ult) across terrain only when teammates can immediately follow or when the landing provides a safe exit.
Teamfights
Begin Thundering Smash (1st) while you still have a realistic path to the target, then line up Sky Splitter (3rd) with the contact point. Use Frenzied Maul (2nd) on an enemy who will remain nearby; repeatedly changing targets can deny your healing. Hold Stormbringer (Ult) to follow an escape or cross a dangerous gap. When enemies kite beyond your team, turn back and control their frontline rather than continuing alone.
